I am probably gonna get eaten alive in the comments for having so little knowledge when it comes to these particular questions I have. My scenario is this: I am about to acquire a 2015 Silverado 2500 equipped with a 6.0. I currently own a 2000 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3
I am just in the beginning stages of building my 2000 Silverado, upgrading it with the 2015 6.0 and 4L80. The the newer 2015 donor truck has very low miles. It was wrecked and I know the owner well.
I may need to save different questions for different threads, but the first question is this… Should I use the newer ECM in the 2000 Silverado? My goal for the 2000 Silverado is somewhere near 500 hp naturally aspirated, while also maintaining all the current functionality of the gauges, AC system, yada yada yada. In my mind, I’m hoping that simply taking the 6.0 with the 4L 80 out of the other truck, along with the newer trucks, AC system, that I won’t run into too many hiccups. I don’t know what retrofits from 2015 to 2000. Too many questions for a person to answer here I know this. I’m just hoping somebody replies, at the very least, with advice starting with which ECM they recommend I use, given the fact that I am putting much newer equipment in a much older truck. You have my sincere apologies for how stupid some of this may sound ahead of time lol. Thanks for any input anyone can give.
