5.7 Ram Vrs 6.2 Chevrolet question

Quick question for my fellow 6.2 owners. Back when I had my Denali, I rarely had a Ram or Tundra try to outrun me. As in, I'm at a stop light, no one is to the left and a Ram/Tundra will come next to me as if they plan on taking off and going in front (two lanes merge to one).

Now, with my new Chevy, it seems to be happening quite a bit. Any advice? Would you add 6.2 Emblems?

As when I accelerate, you can almost feel the frustration of the Ram/Tundra driver.

Thanks,

Matt

Not trying to hate, but stomping on it when your beside either of those two trucks to beat them to the lanes end doesn't mean your faster or that you beat them in a race.
IMO, both of those trucks would pull on you no problem at a fair start/roll ( not getting a jump on them).

I've seen bone stock Tundras with the 5.7 at drag strips doing low 14's I believe it was.

Like I said, not hating on the GM...I own one!

Just out of curiosity denaliguy, how much of a difference is the new 6.2 L compared to your older one?

It's a lot different IMO. It's 4x4 not Awd like the Denali, but has an auto mode. Which automatically changes between 2wd and 4wd depending on the conditions. Also, the new transmission is awesome. It holds the power throughout the band, and effectively changes gears.

@ Westhemess - To clarify here, I'm not racing everyone. I was more or less saying it about a few people who seem to drive aggressively. Back when I had the Denali, it was a given I had a 6.2 and really didn't have an issue with these trucks. Now that I have the new Silverado, they presume it's a 5.3 and will automatically try to pass. That's why I was inquiring as to put the 6.2 emblem on the truck.

As to your claim about them pulling on me. Have you checked out the new 2015 Silverado 6.2L compared to the Ram or Tundra? If so, I don't see how you'd post what you did.

The Ram - 395 and 410
The Tundra - 381 and 401

The Silverado - 420 and 460

So, clearly they wouldn't be pulling on the Chevrolet as you say. :)

I had a guy in a Raptor 6.2L try to get around me as well.... he didn't make it

I did stop and chat with him for a second and he did comment that at least it wasn't a 5.3l that beat him  He was running 35" tires with 4.56 gears, dual exhaust. I did not ask if he had an intake or tunner but I would think at least a tuner for running aftermarket gears. I will say that truck pulled very well for what it was. I wasn't sure I was even pulling on him until it was over. The look on his face made it worth it

You do know that the 2009 to current 2015 Chevy/Sierra with the 6.2L is the fastest current production truck on the market, don't you?

Because horsepower and torque are the only things that determine how fast a vehicle is...

You're definitely right, but it doesn't hurt either. Plus, when you look at the rest of the statistics, the Chevrolet still comes out ahead. Anyways, not sure why we're debating this on a GMC/CHEVROLET forum.

I was looking up the Dodge SRT10 RAM and would you believe the current Silverado/Sierra is faster in all test but the 0-100... The Dodge is 2wd the Chevy is 4wd both are double cabs.

0-60
Chevy 5.4
Dodge 5.6

5-60 rolling start
Chevy 5.9
dodge 6.0

Standing quarter mile
Chevy 14.1 99MPH
Dodge 14.2 99MPH

0-100
Chevy 14.5
Dodge 14.3

The governor on the Chevy is only 110mph Dodge is 147mph.

So how can the 5.7L be faster :? :? :?

That was the test on a 14. Did GM raise it?

Fastest production truck that I know of is the TRD supercharged tundra, followed by the single cab SRT10.

The new chevy 6.2, quad cab SRT10, and 5.7 tundra, ford 6.2 (non-raptor) and 3.5 egoboost are all close after that.

The 5.7 hemi should never be a threat imo. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the new F-150's considering how light they just got. The 3.5 egoboost might sound like a mouse running on it's favorite wheel, but it's fast.

I can't wait to run against those F*rd's.

Chevy does not offer a Single cab 6.2L that we could compare to the Dodge, but Chevy is faster in the crew cab configuration. It does not appear that Toyota offers the Supercharged TRD Tundra anymore, unless this is done outside of the factory (not even sure if that is even an option), BUT the current Tundra TRD is 1.3mph slower 0-60 than GM's 6.2L.

That's it! GM is KING!!! :D

Of course, you can get a tuner and turn off the speed limiter, and then really see who's got the top speed :D

Stock I've got 350/380 at the rear wheels. I wouldn't mind lining up with them to see where I stand.

The single cab SRT10 has a 6-spd manual which is the major difference between it and the quad cab (other than the obvious weight) which has a 4-spd auto. As far as N/A trucks go (discounting the reaper and trd tundra) that RCSB SRT10 with the 6-spd manual is still #1. But it would NOT be if Chevy came out with that Cheyenne concept, I'm confident. I agree, GM is king (especially pound for pound). I hope I run across a SRT10 one day :)
