On my 99 Silverado my alarm sounds when I open a door.
I just want to disable the entire system.
Here is why.
I live in rural Alaska and cannot drive the vehicle to a dealership. The key fob does not work. I am not concerned with not having a security system due to there is nowhere to take the truck even if a neighbor wanted to steal it, which they don't.
My son had a local mechanic work on the driver side door because the exterior door handle broke due to the cold weather. Now that door lock does not work well and sometimes the horn alarm will sound when I open the door.
The truck will still start while alarm going off.
I don't want to reset it or mess with anything like that, I just want to remove or disable the system completely.
I've looked online and have seen examples of of how to reset through various means of button pushing and key turning.
Anyone have an idea how to do this?
