Sorry if this is double post, but I Posted something a few months back about this and didn't see the results...

Anyway, I have a 2013 Silverado 4wd crew cab with P265-70R17 tires (Which are OEM from the factory--they are the Wrangler ST).

I am looking to get a different tire, and was wondering if LT tires (basically an LT265-70R17) are the same overall dimensions in general. One site I went to say the equivalent LT tire for P265-70R17 was an LT245-70R17 whereas another said that an LT265-70R17 is the same dimension as what I have now.

I want to make sure they are the same dimensions as to not affect the speedometer, and wanted to get this clarified before I purchase, as I need an actual truck tire, and not a passenger car tire.

Yes, same size. The P or LT is an indicator of load ranges, not tire dimensions. They still mean the same, 265mm cross section, 70% sidewall, 17" wheel.

You need a tire with the same dimensions. The LT vs P has to do with the construction of the tire, not the size. Do you tow a lot? I had LT's put on my last truck and regretted it due to the loss in MPG. I am on asphalt 95% of the time and don't tow a lot.
