I've always mounted my rears with the boots up, simply for the sake of any off-roading I do to protect them better.

 

Bilstein shocks should be mounted so that the logo is right side up.

Edit: I didn't read the text in the picture that states the exact same thing.

 

That's what I thought. The logo's are correct on mine with the bellows down. BTW, highly recommended upgrade (as you all know) over the OEM Rancho's.

What did they do to your ride? Stiffer?

I think the stock Ranchos on my 14 are stiff. Especially where the freeze/thaw of our winters has expanded the road upward and caused humps.

 

My Superrides by Bilstein came with the stickers not installed. So what way the logo goes does not help everyone. My rears are bellows up to protect the shaft more.

 

I think the Rancho's were shot. The Bilstein's ride much better. No floppy-ness or jittering. Much more controlled and smoother. 100% improvement.

 

The oem ranchos in their best form will be beat by a set of 5100s. I dont know why they would but such a crappy shock on the z71 package.

The OEM Ranchos are not made to Rancho spec, but to GM specs. And because so many people were using Rancho RS5000 with the "cool red boot", Gm figured selling a truck with their shocks from the factory would help, and it did. But they screwed both themselves and Rancho by making them a shitty shock, so people want them out as soon as they can, unless they drive total stock on pavement only. That's what I did for the first 5 years, and never had a problem..

Then I wanted to replace them, I went some website about Silverados and Sierras to ask a question, and I've never been more broke...lol

 

Interesting that many say they are stiffer yet yield a smoother road ride than the Rancho.

 

Its more controlled. It absorbs the bumps with no drama. The ranchos do not.

 

I haven't decided if I'm interested in leveling so might not utilize the 5100's completely, but I guess I'd know it's an option if I changed my mind.
