Budget replacement shocks?

06 Z71 with 175K. No idea what shocks are on there now, but they're original, and black. No special ride height or firmness systems, just 4 regular shocks and no buttons on the dash. They definitely need replacement. I'm not looking to go rock crawling at Moab or trailer any D8's anytime soon (or ever again), I just need to keep the 4 tires firmly on the road and push this beater to 250k. Only time (now) I use 4WD is when my driveway is snowed over (twice per year tops). Looking at all the car parts stores, there 3,982 choices. I'm just looking for a budget friendly replacement that's not going to have my trailer hitch dragging on the ground. Any recommendations? Bilstein and Rancho's seem a bit pricey, and I don't need performance shocks at 80$/wheel. This came up when I brought it in for a 4 wheel alignment and balance/rotate, shop said they couldn't "in good faith" do the alignment the shocks are so bad. AC Delco's seem a bit pricey too.

There are also a lot of cheaper options on Rockauto.com

Something like these are pretty cheap and will do the job just fine.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 96&jsn=496 $25 each and have a rebate going on
and then of course the front ones too.

Edit: I think the matching front ones are the KYB 344381

If I was not concerned about performance and only with them doing the job they were made to do I would get these I am sure.

+1 On Rockauto. Its just really easy to navigate, and see your options.

Just to be a downer for a minute, If you have 175K on your original 15 year old shocks, you probably need a complete front end suspension kit if you really want to stay on the road. Shocks will improve the bumps, but if your budget is that tight, there's probably something else that will "keep you on the road" thats a better option.

I linked rear specific ones KYB 344365 and then in the edit I had the what I think is matching front ones KYB 344381

It should show you options that fit, 4wd or 2wd.. ext cab or reg etc. and just pick a set based on the price you would like to pay.

So to close this thread...I ended up getting AC Delco "Professional" from Rock Auto, reasonably priced. I can tell a definite difference (improved) in the rear, I got a lot of other front end issues going on so the verdict is out on the fronts. At this point I can't tell a difference. The original shocks seem to have a pretty good rebound rate and are still stiff, can't bottom them out without a lot of effort. I did go with the 1 5/8 inch inner bore. One responder recommended a front end kit due to the mileage, and I am sorta going down that road, started another thread on that. I had a set of Rancho's from the local parts place in case the Delcos were horrible, but they weren't, so returned them. The rears took all of 5 minutes to replace, the fronts were a b*** due to how many go* *amn times I had to turn that go* *amn top nut with Carpal Tunnel and keeping the go* *amn fender liner out of the way.
