My transmission went out in my 2000 Silverado with over 300,000 miles. Pulled it out last week and called a rebuilt shop and they quoted me $1200 to rebuilt mine in three days. Is this price a good one or should I keep looking. We don't have many shop here in Augusta, Ga. I was looking at the range between $700 to $900. Any thoughts, should I keep looking. This shop gives one year Guarantee .

There are exceptions to every rule but generally you get what you pay for with transmission overhauls. The guys charging $700 are probably not rebuilding it. They are probably opening it up and replacing only what is burnt out. So you may get a working trans with still mostly worn out consumable parts and maybe 1 new clutch pack. And they are probably not replacing the converter.
$1200 is on the low side as well. I would figure a 4L60E complete overhaul with a new converter starting at $1400.

I had rebuilt a 4l60e in one of our work trucks. It was 1400 almost exactly and it included doing the extra clutch packs to, i think, 3rd gear. Worked like a charm.
