I have been contimpalting an intune and was all set to order and was just looking it over again and was on the fence about it again. I am just looking to get a little better mpgs and more power is always good too. Iam not planning to get a custom tune and dont want to be messing around with alot of the advanced tuneabitily of the intune. I do tow a tt in the summer so if it would help with that it would be a plus. Aloso i read of a few cases where it screwed up the ecm for some guys and i deffinetly dont want that. So would it be worth it or better spent on a different mod?

I'm not going to lie. I was EXTREMELY nervous about putting the intune on my 2013 for the same reasons as you describe.

I bit the bullet and went ahead and did it. I haven't looked back since.

I will say also, while the canned tunes were ok, they don't hold a candle to the custom tune from Lew. I did see mileage gains from just the canned tunes, and a slight improvement in get up and go, but once again, the custom tune went that much further.

In total I saw an increase of around 2.5mpg and my driveability has been fantastic!

I recently towed my flat deck trailer and Polaris Ranger quite a distance (I know it was only about 3500lbs) but it felt so good towing it, I had to start a thread on it. I was still getting around the 13.5mpg mark while towing.

Bottom line is, I truly wish these trucks didn't require the need for a tune like this. That would make life a lot simpler, but unless I go buy a different brand of truck, I'm going to do what I feel makes it perform better.

I also think they are worth it. I put mine on my truck at 12,000 miles and didn't think twice. It was a huge difference and also gained me some mpg, although that wasn't what I was after. On flat ground going the speed limit, the mpg is unbelievable (according to the DIC, so take it for what its worth).

Is it worth it yes! Have I had a lockout issue with ECM yes. Did I have to take to dealer to correct no! I dealt with Lew and the guys at Diablo sport, they sent me files and was fixed up in no time. I know most are nervous about writing to the ECM. Here's what I learned, turn off all accessories , and headlights, roll down driver window, and make sure battery is in good condition. Follow prompts and you will be all set.

We all have to keep in mind that the reason the vehicles are tuned the way they are from the factory, is that GM, Ford, whoever has to deal with morons buying their vehicles. People will throw in the tank just about anything that will burn, looking only for the lowest cost fuel they can get by with regardless of the quality, they will abuse the hell out of their vehicles and blow up transmissions. The OEM's have to scale back on what the engine is allowed to do and the fuel people are putting in them. If GM only dealt with diligent pickup owners that cared about how they did things and taking care of their pickups, then GM might actually tune these things more appropriately. But with what they are up against, and the liability issues along with the warranty issues, they are going to be very conservative on how they tune the engines and set things in the transmissions.

The only way to get proper tuning out of the factory is to step up to the very high end type of vehicles. The OEM's will tune vehicles more appropriately when those vehicles come with 6 figure pricing. The rides for the "common" folks are not going to be set up as well.

My first experience with third party tuning was with a 2006 Jeep Liberty Diesel. It made a major difference. So it was almost a no brainer to go in the same direction with my 2013 Silverado.

I just installed intune yesterday, and I have to say it's well worth it. I was apprehensive about buying a hand held., but Diablo sounded like a good unit with lots of cool features.
I noticed some decent improvements in power, mind you I have also read older vehicles (mines a 99) benefit more from these then newer, correct me if I'm wrong.
I went with the 91 tune right off the get go, and once I put 120k on it really woke up. Biggest improvement was the throttle response and low end felt much more crisp. Stock my truck always felt a little sluggish when you cracked the throttle body.
Then the top end really feels like it came alive. Besides the little power increases, I'm very happy with the ability to tune shift points and tire size. There are a few other features I don't want to play with before getting my wide band on, but I am happy with it.
Curious to see this week if I get any better mileage with it.

after 2 month of using my diablo intune. i have drive about 2000 miles and i am using mpg booster ecm tune and firm shift tcm tune , i cant notice any mpg improvement.. very disapointed . my engine is doing 16 mpg highway and 6-7 mpg city that is the same that before the diable intune . i will try the 87 octane tune and will tell you the difference

I removed my Kenne Bell and took the truck to stock 2500 HD 6.0L .. got a used inTune .. what I like about it is that even stock, it has 3 tunes you can run .. unlike my SCT I bought for my other ride, which was blank and required just a basic tune to get the car to the dyno .. between the programmer, the tune, and the dyno (plus the Pro software to use my laptop), it was close to $1,000 ..

Diablo : $300 and I can tweak and run dual tunes (the way I did it is that I have a tow package .. so after tweaking, I up'd all my settings on the TOW side .. hard shifts, etc.etc.etc.). Gas mileage + .. fun to drive (even without the Kenne Bell + .. well worth it.

I am working with Lew at this time to get me a good tweak after I run some datalogs for him .. then I'll reinstall the Kenne Bell and pay to have him tweak some more (if he is willing) ..

i was in the same place as you but i finally bit the bullet and bought the intune. all i can say is wow. i was running the 87 tune and i recently went back to stock before tuning for 91 and it was terrible. it was no fun to drive at all. i actually pulled over in a parking lot before i got home to load the 91 tune so i could enjoy my drive home and now i am thinking about a tune from Lew. just my 2 cents.

i have buy the diablo intune only to increase my mpg. with the mpg booster tune the mpg is not increasing , i was totaling 2 trip for a total of 2000 kilometer with the cruse control at 65 mph . i was expecting at least 1 mpg increase. for sure i do not think about a custom tune lol. if i cannot see any improvment with the 87 octane tune. i will sell it for sure.

nope, I don't do email tuning for superchargers, turbos... need to get it done on a dyno with that...

It really has to do with what you are looking to gain, if you are looking for better drivability and throttle response, then the Diablo is probably your best bet. Fuel mileage and horsepower, you might gain a noticeable amount, you might not gain enough to notice. But if you are looking for a custom Diablo tune, Lew is the man!

Here my final update for the diablosport intune I-1000
I have do extensive test for the same trip running unloaded
a trip of 300 mile running through a mountain area

with the mpg booster tune / firm shift tcp tune = 14.4 mpg ( 16 l /100km )
with the 87 octane booster tune /firm shift tcm tune = 13.07 mpg ( 18 l /100km )
With Stock tune = 16.8 mpg ( 14 l /100km )

I am very unhappy about intune I-1000 since they told that I can save 1-3 mph that is total bullshit.
it does improve performance slightly and shift harder. but you will never save on gas !!!!
i maby drive like an old man but by far i prefer the way the stock tune shift and drive !
i have lost my time and money but i prefer talk about experience !

be sure if i hear someone on the forum talk about mileage improvement and an intune i will give my word.

Sorry you had such a bad experience .. I could provide you with screen captures of my MPGs, etc., etc. but since you already have a bad taste in your mouth, it wouldn't change your mind.

Did Lew also provide you with a custom tune after you provided him with a datalog? EVERY vehicle (even when setup the exact same) will have different results - that is why Lew provides new tunes after you datalog your particular "driving habits" to him.

no... he did not get a custom tune done...

I saw great MPG increases with my intune. Especially with my custom tune from Lew! (Thanks Lew)

Hsnd calculated I went (with my current set-up 2" level/ 285/70/17's/ MBRP exhaust) from 12.9 - 13.3 before the tune, and my most recent tank I got 16.4 MPG.

Christg it's a shame you're not experiencing some better results. I'm sure you'll have NO problem selling the intune on here!
