a few months ago i bought some LED's for my cargo lights for the bed since i had wired some under rail LED's. the problem is that they are really dim, i could use my phone up on the roof for a brighter light. what do i need to make it brighter? I'm pretty sure they were suppose to be PnP but just because they work doesn't mean the work correct.

I had them wired to the cargo light sockets themselfs but when I put the LED's in I un wired them because I was planning on re-doing the wire for the lights them self.

the only thing i can think of is that the bed rails are steeling power but if you took them out then maybe they are defective LED's.

You could wire them off the acc trailer power and then use a relay to create a two switch set up. Where you have a switch at the back of the bed like i did and you could have the cargo lights also turn them on. I just thought of that, it would be really cool.

those are alot brighter than mine, i did a single strip down each side and now im jealous.

How do you like the yellow top? worth the price? Its not really listed as a direct replacement anywhere for my truck, easy conversion?

I have always used yellow tops for audio apps. I like the fact that a can run them hard then recharge them in under a hour with a 100 amp charger. Worth the price YES. This truck only has two under the hood. My last 4 vehicals had three or more. I rather have more power than not enough. The d34/78 with both top and side mount will work just fine.

Each strip Puts out about 300lm per meter and there are 8 of them 4 in the rear and 4 near and in front of the tool box.

Try Looking at Led Supply, give them a call they have helped me out with my cargo trailer lighting and my 4000lm reverse lights. 2000 lm Each side.

They will do nothing but help. I've just completed my reverse light revamp and I couldn't be happier. The patter is more focused and brighter. I will post the build as soon is I get all the pics I took uploaded to my PC. The lights will help in backing up in the woods or if you have 5% tent like me.

Yea I have dark tint on the back windows. I installed LEDs in my license plate and at night somewhat distort the back-up camera because they are so bright.

The bad image your getting is from the tag led lights shining/reflecting back towards the camera. Messing with its focus and auto light adjustment feature. When it gets dark I'll take a photo of my cameras view so you can see there is no issue with the mod I've made and camera effectiveness.

What do you have in there for reverse lights?? I checked LED supply but couldn't find any automotive applications. I've got some PIAA bulbs in there now which are alright, not nearly as bright as that though, and with tint all around I'd like the brightest reverse bulbs I can find.

Got any pics of the cargo lights you put in?

I installed LED's under my hood, have you guys seen those? They are switched through the hood open latch that comes with the remote start ready package via a relay. All i do is pop my hood and i have tons of light.
djlove: I am glad they are working for you. I installed them also using the hood open switch according to the tutorial posted to this forum. However, after a few days, it fried my BCM. It didn't happen right away, but several days later. I didn't think that was it and evenutually had the BCM replaced. All was good for a few days, then bam, another fried BCM. I think it has something to do with the relay on the hood open switch. Others have experienced the same issue after following that tutorial. I really liked the lights and was so pissed I pulled them out altogether. But I am thinking about redoing them again but instead of a relay on the hood open switch, I will just run them fused to the battery through a contact switch with the hood or maybe a simple rocker switch.

Here is thread on the problem and it mirrors what happened to me.
Urgent BCM question

think I am going to upgrade my reverse lights. I have a rearview camera and wondering if those bright lights help or hurt you view?
For a quick, easy, low cost and effective solution to backup lighting, check this out. It projects light straight back so it doesn't interfere with the backup camera but it sure illuminates stuff back there for you.
