Hi,

This is what I did... Pulled the fuse in my 2005 Silverado, when I had the doors open and listening to music. Put it back in when I was done...

1) Open the driver's side door and locate the fuse panel cover. It is mounted on the side of the dashboard between the door and the windshield. The door must be open to access this panel cover.
2) Remove the fuse panel cover and read the diagram on the reverse side of the cover. This diagram shows the location and function of all the fuses within the fuse block.
3) Locate and remove the chime module fuse. Replace the fuse panel cover and verify that the chime does not sound.

Reverse steps to allow chime to work for door open, keys in ignition, or lights are on....

I hope this helped, :)

Hi robeward,

Yes! When I clean my truck, or I'm using it for outside work. I'm like you. I want to listen to my music without the ding,ding,ding... So I pull the cover off the fuse panel, locate the little fuse, and pull it out. The door chimes stops, but everything else works. When you're done, just put it back in. Or not... If you don't then you won't get any alarm for lights on, key in ignition, door open, etc...

I hope this helped, :)

Thanks 1500VHO. This is exactly what I am looking for. I might just leave it out. My lights are automatic so leaving them on isn't a problem. If I do they time out and cut off automatically. I am already in habit of pulling the key out just far enough to stop the chime for that so loosing that feature doesn't really affect me. Then of course I don't need a chime letting me know I have my door open. Its fairly obvious. Problem solved.

Just install a aftermarket radio. Solved that issue in mine...no more chime at any time for anything of the alerts that set off the chime.
Was probably going to start another topic about that. From what I have heard installing an aftermarket radio isn't that easy with the Bose system. Or I was told it could be done but not without some loss of functionality. Anywho, another topic for another time.

If you buy the right wiring harness for aftermarket radio you don't lose any functions.. It's just pricey... Around $200 if you want to keep steering wheel controls.

Think you'll just lose the steering controls. I think, rest shouldn't be any different.

 I know this post is old.. but I have to agree with the person/people who have/might have suggested to simply roll all the windows down; turn the radio on - (which is what I do with my crew-cab); get out of the truck; shut the door(s) and there ya go.. presto!

As far as the "pulling the fuse" idea goes? Well, you can if you want.. but I personally wouldn't take my fuse out. But again, that's my opinion. 'Free-Will' is great isn't it?!? We're free to do as we please. Each to his/her own, in other words.

If you close the latch on the door the chime will stop. But before you try shutting your door pull either door handle to open the latch back up. The "sensor" that controls the chime is inside the latch mechanism so there's no bypass on them anymore. I figured this out while listening to the radio while cleaning out the truck one day. Also only driver door in my 00 Z71 will set off chime if key is turned backwards.
