I agree waxing around the emblems is annoying. Please no one think i am putting down debadging by any means. I just never heard of it before and wondered why people did it.
I actually agree with you.To me debadging is meant for show or lowrider trucks. I like to go mudding and stuff and there is nothing better than trucks slapped covered in mud and the only clean part on the truck is the chevy or gmc symbol!!!!! However to solve that waxing problem i use that turtlewax ice stuff..you can put it all over the emblems and nothing gets stuck in those crevices. :) I like the factory badges however these new badges tend to "debadge" themselves because the adhesive peels away leaving wrinkles in the bowties on some trucks which sucks :(

90% of the de-badgers leave the main emblems on. The Bowtie and GMC badges on front and back. It's the excessive Flex Fuel and Sierra\Silverado written all over the Truck that we remove.

My tailgate alone came with 5 different emblems and a dealer sticker. Bow tie, flex fuel, Texas edition, LT, Silverado AND a dealer sticker! Now it says "Silverado". It looks sooo much cleaner now.

I think this is kind of old, but I'll throw a couple cents in...

You say "take some pride and show what you drive". I say "take some pride and make it your own". I love the look of a debadged vehicle because it cleans everything up, smoothes it out, evens out the sides (like on the tailgate). It's just a tool to make the vehicle your unique vehicle. Some people add things, others remove them, some do both. It's not an "I'm ashamed of what I drive" thing though. If someone has to ask me what I am driving, I take that as a compliment because they have given it enough thought and it's caught their attention enough that they are curious.

I'm de-badging the whole truck... all emblems. To me, if you need to see what kind of truck I own by looking at the emblems, you really don't know enough about vehicles to notice all the important details not so visible that actually make the truck unique and one of a kind. Also, as far as trade in - if I'm going to put this much work into a vehicle the only way I'll ever rid myself of it is if someone T-bones me with a semi. But that's just me...

toyota requires you to de-badge before towing their trailer....

If I take anything off any vehicle, the first thing is always the dealership info. They aren't paying me to advertize for them plus it looks like crap.
Didn't receive the monthly advertising check from the dealer so off the dealer badge came.

lol glad you saw that.

I don't understand why people "de-badge" their truck. It seems to me like if it's debadged then it's just a truck. A ford is a truck, a dodge is a truck, a toyota or nissan is a truck but to me there is a certain pride in owning a chevy and i want everyone to know it. Is that a bad thing.
If you don't know what kind of truck (or any vehicle for that matter) it is just by looking at it, then you probably couldn't care less about whether or not it has badging on it. I personally like the clean, simple body style, usually. No need for extra crap. My $.02.

Anyone with any sense can tell what make/model a truck is without having to look at the badges. De-badging is just something that gives your truck a "cleaner" look. I might do it to mine later on. I just got done removing the trim molding and my hands are sore from prying off that adhesive. But it looks a lot better now.

I am with the OP. I never understood it either, but I guess I see why certain show/tuner trucks would want them off. My dad's best friend always has his trucks debadged because he says to him it seems like advertising and he doesnt want to drive a billboard. :? We didn't quite get it but whatever. Personally I would never ever do that. As the OP said, I love to show off my chevy pride because I feel its an important part of who I am.

I took off my Z71 stickers, SILVERADO letters, LT and FLEXFUEL tag. Who loves stickers and plastic chrome on thier toys, my two year old son. My truck looks much cleaner and classier without them.

I bought mine (fairly) clean, still has the bowtie on the front. Kind of pisses me off being that it's gold while the rest of the truck is silver, chrome and black. I'm either going to black out the bowtie or get an a/m grill. And these Caddy rims!

I never de-badged before, but I like the look. I've been looking for replacements for the center caps.

Also, I agree with the idea that I don't need to advertize for anybody. It's not like they're sending me checks every month.

I love how de-badging the truck can change it so much. So much smoother and cleaner. I recently took off the ugly moldings, but held back on the actual badges, because I was unsure of how it would look with nothing but the z71 sticker. Opinions?
