Hello All. New to the Forum but not the truck. Bought my 2010 GMC Sierra 6.2L Crew Cab new. May will be my 11th year of ownership. Been a great truck but front brakes are pulsing and shaking the front end a bit on hard braking so it looks like it's time for new rotors. Have not put an indicator or micrometer to them but no matter, they need replacing. I almost always use OEM parts on my vehicles but my local GMC dealer wants close to $350.00 for a set of front rotors and that is just too much for factory parts. Not sure I trust the cheap franchise parts store rotors although I can get a set of Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors with pads for $300.00 at Autozone. Don't know anything about them. I am looking for you experienced brake guys to chime in on your replacement rotor recommendations. Your suggestions will be appreciated!

I put Auto Zone Duralast Gold rotors and pads (the best they offered) on my wife's Equinox a few years ago. They stopped great, better than original, and had great feel. I was really happy with them. However, they did start to pulsate a bit in only about 15,000 miles. Not badly, but it was there. We put over 50,000 miles on them before selling the car. Plenty of pad left at that point.

So,, all the feedback I have gotten and all the research I have done, Power stop has some really quality brake kits that meet and exceed OEM.
This Christmas I bought a complete rotor, caliper and pad kit for my daughters car. Not drilled and slotted (she does not race the car). Complete kit was almost $300.
They fit perfect, broke in perfect and still look great. She has said her brakes have never felt so strong.
My brother has a shop in Nevada, he has been using complete Power Stop kits on his customers cars and trucks and has gotten allot of positive feedback.
My truck has less than 50K on it and I tow. I don't plan on needing brakes for a long time,,but when I do,,My go to will be Power Stop!
Neighbor up the street swears by EBC,, but most of what I see from them is high performance applications. Been down that road in my younger years and will stick as close to OEM as possible. And for now,, Power stop makes some really nice kits.

I have 140K on my factory brakes. So, I am considering replacing them with same. But, what is Gold and what is silver AC-Delco rotors? Are they better than OE?

Just put AC Delco gold rotors and pads on my 2014 Silverado today. Bought off of Amazon as it was cheaper than the dealer, auto parts store or Rock Auto.

Tried the Powerstop drilled and slotted brakes last time and realized the only advantage they have over OEM was looks. Now of my truck was a race car, then I would have a reason to go back to Powerstop.

I put the Powerstop on 2.5 years ago when I hit 50,000. Now I will hit 80,000 tomorrow and the brakes needed replacing. Driving habits didn't change, but 20,000 less miles and needing brakes is justification enough for me to stick to OEM.

OE is the original stuff. Gold is what used to be the professional series and Silver is what used to be the Advantage series.
They describe Gold as
"AC Delco Gold parts are the high-quality alternative to OE parts, manufactured to meet GM expectations for fit, form, and function and backed by General Motors."
They describe Silver as
"ACDelco Silver parts are a quality high-value option for most makes and models, backed by General Motors. "

OK, so it sounds like the "GOLD" are higher quality than OE???? Is that right?
What I take from it is that OE is of course what came on the vehicle originally then Gold is a premium aftermarket alternative then Advantage is the budget aftermarket alternative.
I guess Gold would be very close to OEM quality.

Most OEM and some Gold parts have a 24 month unlimited mile warranty or a limited lifetime warranty
A small amount of the Silver parts have a 12 month unlimited miles warranty

OEM and Gold brakes have the 24 month unlimited miles warranty while Silver has the 12 month unlimited miles warranty for example

Good morning guys. I have used powerstop pads and rotors in the past and was pleased. One of the shops I deliver too told me of brakemotive.com I ordered a set of drilled slotted rotors and ceramic pads for like $145 off ebay. Should arrive this week. Was told this company private labels for powerstop. They use them on their customers cars and no complaints. So I figured why not give they a try. Just sharing some info as pricing on rake parts can be all over the place as many have found.
