intermittent low beam issue

2012 Silverado, seems I have an issue with the wiring harness/ pigtail going into the back of the bulb but it looks like it would be difficult to change so figured id see if any of you fine folk have had a similar issue. Its usually my passenger low beam that will go out but sometimes my drivers side will do it. All it takes is a little jiggle or even just a touch to the wires right where they go into the back of the headlight and they come on for a few hours then goes out again. any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Two tips to make it a better job:
-keep the overall length of the harness about the same. Don't cut the harness off right at the bulb connector, then attach the pigtail to those ends, so the harness is 6" longer. This just makes it a hassle to push that extra wire somewhere, and increases the likelyhood it rubs through because it's not in loom and the area isn't made for holding that extra wire.
-offset the location of the two joints in the harness, so they aren't right next to each other. It makes for a big bulge in the wiring harness. Instead, if you offset them by an inch, the joints can probably be inserted into the loom to be protected.
okay thank you for your advice! I feel like id have to replace it right to the bulb connecter though as that seems to be the issue, I wiggle it near the back of the connector and it comes back on, cant seem to find and cuts or anything on the wires so I figure it must be where the wires go into the bulb connector. also i noticed the wires get very hot where they plug into the connector is that normal?

Usually when i start my truck one or both of the low beams don't work (everything else works fine) and if i just touch the wire pigtail going into the low beam they come on and stay on the whole time the trucks running but if i turn it off i have to play with the wires again, i just replaced both headlight pigtails and they worked for a day and the same problem now persists. could it be a bad ground somewhere and just me touching it somehow grounds it? or maybe the back of the bulb housing? thanks

Maybe there is an issue with the wire further up the line than what you replaced when you did the new pigtail/connector?
That wouldn't make sense to me as all I have to do to get it to come on is barley touch the wire right where it plugs into the bulb or even the plastic on the bulb housing to get it to work. This is really starting to frustrate me.
