JET performance MAF sensors... anyone use?

Any of you guys use these? I was thinking about picking one up and adding it to the MAF/CAI/PTB train but wanted to know anyone's input before. It seems they've stopped making them for models past 08 and I've always known the jet chip's are somewhat of a waste of money.

I do not think you will find anyone here recommending a new MAF sensor, unless you are doing some extreme modding. The OEM MAF is excellent, even at higher HP.

Awesome. The only feedback I've heard from it is "DONT BUY THIS YOUR ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AUTOMATICALLY!" obviously by someone who does not know to unplug their battery. I just live by the code of keeping it clean with maf cleaner.

I was having some issues with my rig that made me suspect the MAF was on the fritz. I cleaned it and it improved somewhat, but it started to act up again in no time. So, looking at new ones I came across jet, and against my better judgement, bought one hoping it wasn't crap. Well... It works fine, but I would bet ya 100 bucks that if you peel off the jet sticker it would say AC Delco underneath. It is identical in both form and function. I was expecting one of the circular sensors that they show in their pictures but no... I think they just resticker an OEM part. Hope this helps...

hey that does help a lot, I appreciate the input! I'm not a fan of the "performance chips" and stuff like that so I've always steered clear of their entire product line.. to me they're all on the same wavelength with throttle body spacers. It's unfortunate that you didn't see anything really worth a lick.. but at the same point I'm thankful you're here to tell people to steer clear!

STAY AWAY from those MAF's, they are garbage. All they do is give the ECM a false AFR reading, there is no performance to be had from them. The OEM MAF is good for 500+HP.

If you need to replae it, go OEM.

I would agree that they should be avoided. But I'll throw in that mine never threw any codes at all and functions no different than my OEM. Like I said above, I'm pretty damn sure it is an OEM replacement, just with a special sticker that says jet.

OEM, other performance related forums will tell you the same. Once you get past a certain point of modding the MAF goes away anyhow. At that point your in REAL deep. For the mods most do here the OEM is the most trouble free.

Hi bombdiver,

Yes, I purchased a Jet MAF and installed it on my 6.0L VHO... It looked cool, but the engine ran "funny" after the install. By that I mean, it idled low, and the engine stalled on slow speed turns or slow downs at the stop lights/stop sign. I also had a Hypertech programmer installed, and was told by the Hypertech technicians that the two devices were in-compatible... I did not get any engine light problems, or problem codes with the Jet MAF installed. I removed the Jet MAF, and immediately the truck responded well. Back to the pre Jet MAF performance.

I sold/gave the Jet MAF to a member here on SS.com He was having trouble with his stock MAF. Initially, he saw a performance gain. However, after a couple of days, he experienced the same low idle/engine stalling that I had experienced. I was glad he did not pay for the Jet MAF. He later installed a stock MAF and his engine problems and engine code issues went away.

So short story. I do not think they are worth a plug nickel... Use at your own risk!

I hope this helped, :D

Do NOT use aftermarket MAF sensors!! there is no reason to change from the factory GM MAF sensor...

thanks guys, I appreciate everyone's input. Just to clarify I wasn't planning on buying one I was just curious. It's unfortunate that they caused the problems that they did.. which I assumed after the "performance chips" hit the market years ago and never worked. I plan on sticking with the OEM and keeping MAF sensor cleaner on hand.

Alright, This thread made me curious. Although I would never recommend Jet to anyone after seeing how their products perform, I personally used a Jet MAF for a while and never had problems (But certainly didn't see any gains either). I was surprised at how many people did have issues because I was pretty certain that Jet just restickered some AC Delco MAFs and charged a pretty penny for em. So I decided to do a little comparison. This is what I found...

So, Who can pick out which is the Jet MAF and which is the OEM?

If you guessed that the Jet was on the left... Well then you got lucky.
There's that fancy little White sticker I paid for. But what happens when you peel it back a little?

GOOD LORD... Is that the AC DELCO logo and part number sanded down??! Who would've guessed that Jet would do such a thing? Well there you have it. As far as I can figure, Maybe they send ya a MAF that is a slightly different part number than your truck requires, and that causes some reading issues? I don't know. what I do know is that you SHOULD NOT waste your money on a sticker.

while the housings may be the same, that's not the determining factor... it's how the programming/calibration of the MAF sensor it self is done... afterall, if it was just the same GM maf sensor, nobody would have any problems with 'em... it's the fact that they are calibrated differently internally ;)
