the steel intake gasket set MS98016T and both knock sensors were replaced 3 nights ago on my 00 silverado 1500 with the 5.3 i cleared the codes and they came back today. it says BOTH knock sensors are bad now!! the harness is plugged in on top of the intake. could i have gotten a bad batch of knock sensors? the harness didnt look bad when they were replaced so i reused it (maybe a bad idea) but the old rear sensor was so corroded, i had to chisel it out since it was so rusted in the hole. i ran a thick bead of mega black rtv around the grommets for the sensors. if i remove the intake again, can i still reuse the intake gaskets again or will i need to replace them? (they were not cheap!!) thanks in advance.

Replaced both knock sensors in my '06 Silverado a few years ago with AC Delco knock sensors and harnesses to avoid your current situation. There are tons of warnings on this forum and others about the harnesses failing after reinstalling them and I did not want to ever do that again. My .02 cents is to replace the harnesses with OEM and then the gasket as well. Definitely not going to be fun to do this a third time. You probably already have, but if you have not, make sure that you follow the instructions in the how to section, the information is invaluable.

thanks yall! i removed the intake and tested the sensors as follows-tap on block and check AC voltage. (getting a reading of .03-.12 when i tap on the intake valley on each sensor) ohm the plug side of the harness and there is continuity at each wire. any other tests i could do to eliminate this? drove 80 miles and it sucked up 1/4 tank... this is ridiculous

is there supposed to be voltage from the pcm to the sensors? i unplugged the ks subharness from the harness that goes into the pcm and checked the pcm end of the harness and no voltage. also, i believe i read somewhere if i have the lifter tap, it will trigger a ks code. mine does tap at idle then goes away after 600-700 rpm. could the tapping trick the ks into thinking its spark knock?
