Hello All, I'm looking to make my own wiring harness to add the LED bed lights. I would like to use the factory plug in under the spare tire. Does anyone know or can anyone point me in the direction to find the part number for the plug end?
Thanks

Not sure of the part number your after or if one exists since the part number would be for the harness as a whole (P/N 23145347) that runs the bed lighting. However if you look at junction block above spare tire you will see a dead plug end in one of the positions and you could pull that and add the pins to make your own end. I am not sure what the style of pin is? Weatherpack, Molex ect... Could go to your local bone yard to pull a GM connector to re purpose it's pins. Maybe even from the same junction block of a Silverado. Doesn't have to be though as long as the pins match. Maybe someone will chime in on the correct verbage as to the style and size of pins needed. They make tools to remove the pins without damage and then you could just splice a few wires still connected to pins and put them in the appropriate positions like the OE harness does. Post your findings and any details. Don't forget pics for future searchers of this info.

^^*^Well said Rambodog. Good idea on the bone yard or you can look up ac delco.com molex connectors they are broken down by how many available pins in the truck connector referred to as Cavaties ex 7 cavaty connector, 8,9, etc. if you want to be real custom buy your own connector, pins, and crimp tool and make your own. The pins will possibly be called gm weatherpack connectors/pins.

Op needs to get a schematic of the rear distribution block on left rear qtr panel. This is the panel that provides power to like tail lights, brake lights, and other things.

My thought is for the led bed lights are you wanting them live all the time and a switch in the rear corner or ? If he has a trailer plug back there might be a constant hot line there also could use.

Thanks Russ. Now OP if you want a constant source. The trailer harness has a Green with Red stripe or vice versa in the bundle. Sorry brain fart, but it will be a larger gauge than the others too which helps you find it. I tapped that for constant power to my bed lights and controlled by a bed mounted switch. This next bit of info is from one of my favorite place for info. http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/
Trucks not equipped with the under rail bed lighting option will have a dummy connector at the X6 position of the Rear Body Junction Block. The X6 connector body is not available separately, but can be obtained by ordering the under rail bed lighting harness (GM part number 22878806). The harness includes terminals/wiring in positions 4 and 7. Remove the wiring from terminal 4 and discard. Move the rubber cavity plug from terminal position 1 into terminal position 4.

Obtain an appropriate length of 14 gauge wire to run from the Rear Body Junction Block up to the CHMSL wiring for the cap or topper. Create a terminated lead using terminal part #828905-1 in Lear Tray 16 along with wire seal part #1-968857-3 in Lear Tray 7 and connect to one end of the wire. Install the terminated lead into the X6 connector terminal 1. Terminal 7 is a ground circuit used for the under rail bed lighting and it can be used to ground the CHMSL for the cap or topper, if desired. If terminal 7 is not used, remove the terminal and install a rubber cavity plug or cut off the additional wiring, leaving a couple inches of wire, and seal the end of the wire.

Hey Guys, Thanks for all the replies. The write up was amazing and brain numbing with all the info, I love it!!! So here's my plan. I'm going to call a few boneyards real quick today and check availability. I'm assuming that I won't be too lucky considering the year of the truck. I do like the idea of pulling the cover/cap off the module and seeing if I can make a plug. I did find the complete bed kit for $80 on eBay so I may go that route and add 2 more factory LED's. I'll be playing around with the truck more today as yesterday I had my dash apart installing an updated unit for Nav along with adding Android Auto and Apple Car Play. I was pissed when I pull the LCD out and found that my truck with 40,000 had a wire harness on the unit that was butchered, assuming there was an amp that they took back out. Hoping they left upgraded speakers. Todays project. Install Pop & Lock on tailgate. Thanks again, I'll post pics when I do it.
