Simple bulb replacements... I am not wanting to modify any wiring unless it is a plug in and play kit. I am looking to just get better bulbs over the stock set up. Not anything that will burn the lamp assembly or cause any issues. I read that you can replace the H11 with H9 bulbs and 9011 (HIR1) in place of the 9005. Has anyone here tried this already?

Lets keep it simple

Thanks

Stars, I think aksierra13 has this set up. I do not recall if he did a formal review, but I know he likes it.

I had the silverstars before I went with HID's and was very happy with them. They have lasted well over 4 years. HID kits are all plug and play now a days if you really want to upgrade.

http://www.xenonexpert.com/volt_hid.html this is the kit i have. I changed out the headlight housings for projectors though. I have a ddm kit, from the same site, in my bike w/ stock housings and never had a problem. As long as you stick with 35w you wont have any issues.

I am planning on using V-LED's 35W 5k HID kit and going with 5k LED's to replace all the light's in the interior eventually moving to the turn, break, and back up lights.

i replaced my 9005s with Philips night guide and love them. they don't have night guides in h11 so i bought there Cristal vision. no difference in those. these trucks have great headlights stock. The night guides really cut thru the rain snow and fog. they are blue white and yellow all in 1 bulb. Philip's bulbs exceed OEM quality. iv used these on 4 vehicles

There are lots of HID reviews and opinions already on the site.
As far as the stock lighting, they are pretty good. When I put my HID's in, I moved the OEM H11's over to my wifes Acadia. Very nice.

Im using 55W 6K's from DDMtuning.com

Its a plug and play kit. The hardest part installing this kit was finding a spot for the ballasts. The only downside to having HIDs is that oncoming traffic tends to believe your brights are on and bright you, but with the HIDs, the oncoming cars brights dont faze you.

Ill never own another vehicle without HIDs. I can see everything very clearly.

All this is my opinion but will always put in a good word for HIDs.

Here is what the color temp looks like in the dark.

Not to thread-jack on my first post, but thought this would contribute to the topic and knowledge base as well as the OP's question...
I haven't upgraded yet but I have a set of Acura TL projectors (w/HID) I'm looking to retro-fit into my OEM housings on my '95.
I have an '02 Corvette I have already done a similar retro-fit to and can't wait to do this to my pick-up.
Anybody done the HID projector retro-fit themselves?

Aloha,
Michael

I plan on grabbing a set of HIDs from Kryptonbulbs.com the price is right, they have a great warranty, and they are more than willing to help you out with anything you need. I was worried about the wires burning up or housing issue but i was assured by many people that i will be fine. Check it out, you wont be disappointed.

@michael i havent seen anybody retrofit their projectors themselves but it sounds cool, you should do a how to write up with lots of pics. Might be a great project for some people on here!

Thanks Nero! Sounds like a good idea. I'll take pictures and see about a DIY when I'm through.

Aloha!
