liqui moly is AMAZING

if you have a lifter tick (which is not constant) you NEED to try liqui moly lifter fluid !!!

I put this in my truck, and the lifter ticking has dramatically improved. It was very loud on start up, but now the tapping is basically gone. Once warmed up, there is not tapping AT ALL.

of course this is NOT a fix or a miracle lube. But I believe it will prolong your motor if you cannot afford to replace all of your lifters. 5 quarts oil with 1 quart ATF is also very effective. Some motors have been cured with this as well.

I am only reporting personal findings. try some liqui moly and see if it helps. worse case, you are out $15.

Well... I will say this. I have a 2007 LT Extended cab and a 2009 G8 GT. I used to use Lucas oit treatment religiously when I had my 2002 Maxima. But since the truck uses 8 qts and the G8 GT uses 8.8 qts per oil change, I stopped using it. I PERSONALLY took apart a Ford 302 with 2 blown rods due to the owner over revving it. And it had a broke oil pump shaft. IT KEPT RUNNING WITH NO OIL PRESSURE! For TWO DAYS! Couldnt figure out why until I realized it had LUCAS OIL TREATMENT in it (I put it in when I changed the oil in it).

Point... That 302 ran for 2 days with a broken oil pump shaft. My G8's LS7 lifters started squeaking. Sat since last August. For poops and grins, I put 2 bottles of Lucas oil treatment in it (1 qt per 5 qts). THE SQUEAKING STOPPED. I just did this over the weekend. Hopefully this will keep me from having to pull the engine apart again to do another cam and lifter swap.

that's a nice suggestion, but 1 quart ATF has been proven for 50 YEARS to clean up motors and completely diminish lifter tick. You can find hundreds of testimonials on Youtube, with ATF fixing light lifter ticks. Of course, fully collapsed lifters are a different story.
Well then if its on the internet is has to be true. NOT!

I believe it works because I need to justify my silly idea.

Physicists will find it shocking, but there are plenty of people around the world who genuinely believe the Earth is flat.

Who doesn't believe the internet? lol.
Your engine oil already has detergents and dispersants... Its best to do regular oil changes and warm your engine up before an oil change. ATF? People can do whatever they want, this guy isn't putting a drop of ATF in the block. I'll change my oil 4-5 times a year, and I bet you can't find a bit of sludge.

Mine has a nice tick to it. I tried adding some ATF about a week or so before I changed my oil anyway. I'm pretty sure it made it louder.

I did run some Motorkote rather ignorantly a few years ago. That shit will F your engine up like no tomorrow!

So I guess I'll just stick with plain ole oil from now till she stops running. :censored:

it really depends if the lifter is collasped. If the noise goes away, you are in a much better position. If the noise does not go away, you need a lifter replacement ASAP. Otherwise you will ruin the cam, and do a a LOT more damage.

if your noise goes away after a little bit of time.....you may be able to save the lifter. IE using ATF, liquid moly, or a motor flush.

Adding a foreign substance to the oil disrupts the formulated chemistry, negatively impacting wear protection, detergency and more.

Viscosity is the oil’s most important property, influencing wear protection and fuel efficiency. Increasing or decreasing (as with ATF) viscosity by adding automatic transmission fluid in oil to clean sludge or some other perceived problem, can lead to increased engine wear and many don't realize it because it occurs over time. ATF has the viscosity of a 5W motor oil.

I also ran ATF in my motor. It helped for sure. The liquid moly lifter fluid basically eliminated the tick.

Again: I am not saying this is a permanent fix. This is for BUDGET purposes until one can rebuild everything with new lifters. Worse case, you are out $15 and one minute of time.
