Hey guys, I want to get a set of running boards for my 2012 GMC Sierra EXT Cab. There are so many different companies that make them Im not sure what are good and bad ?

I think I am leaning towards the oval 4" straight over the 3" round that curves in. Why are OEM so expensive ? are they that much better ? Also whats better, Rocker mount or the body mount ?

Thanks !

I liked the Raptor Stainless Steel running boards I had on my 2013 1500 and now my 2015 2500HD. Durable and look good. Hop up and down on these puppies and you won't have to worry a bit. Protect the side well, and it takes a lot of protect the side of my pickups, having to run up and down several miles of gravel road to and from the house. Easy to install. Comes with brackets set up to bolt up to pickup based on your cab. They especially look good with molded splash guards. Don't have a current pic so I pulled one off the net that looks similar to mine.

I have grown very fond of the Go Rhino Xtreme Low Profile steps. I will be adding these to my truck as soon as we get back to the mainland and I get the truck back.

Yeah, the Luverne ones are strikingly similar to the Raptor. Probably the very same product. I guess what works best for someone is what they have to deal with. Any of those tubes, steps, etc that have a gap between them and the rocker panel is out in my book. I throw way too much mud and rocks on a daily basis. Tried them before and they were just mud collectors on top. Would have inches of mud on top the step after running down my gravel roads after a rain or spring thaw. Running boards never have that problem. The retractable ones, all it would take is mud caking up all around them and hardening as it dried and then the steps wouldn't extend out or retract in properly. Would be nice to live in town when it comes to all the different selections in steps, but I have to remain practical and use what works for my needs. Probably why I don't own any car and none has really interested me. Just not practical for my needs.

Thanks for all the input guys, So does anyone know if those Ebay ones are ok ? They seem very cheap priced on there, Anything I should look for and stay away from ? I think I am leaning towards the 4 or 5 inch oval type but whats the difference between Rocker mount and body mount ? Are they positioned differently ?

Thanks

I have these, and mine are rusting and the paint is peeling off in big pieces. Hopefully you haven't had this problem!
