I have a 2002 Chevy silverado base model that I want to put power windows in. I already have the door panels, Wiring harnesses for both doors ( both from 99-02 vehicles ), switches and everything. I guess I didnt do enough reading before I went and bought all this so now im kinda stuck..
So has anyone done this before? I read that you can just wire 12v power to them and they will work but I have no idea what im doing to be honest. Can someone show me a diagram or something, or tell me what wires to tap the power into to make this work? I dont care about the power locks or anything just the windows.

If you have the harnesses for the doors, they should just plug into the junction boxes at either end of the dash. To be sure, open the fuse panel on the left end of the dash and find the cavity for the door harness, make sure the terminals are in the junction block for it. Make sure the terminals are also there for the 25A PWR WDO circuit breaker.

Is it really that simple? The harnesses I bought, One from a 99 silverado and the other was a 02 avalanche, they both have this two row long white plug ( data bus plug? I think? ) and this other black plug that wont plug into anything.
My truck doesnt have the thing they plugged into even though everything is supposed to plug right up.

There are kits out there for this. I had it done on my 03. I think I paid something like $300 for power window install.

Most car radio install shops will do it. I don't know how they wired it all up but I had three buttons on my side of the truck and one on the other. I also had power locks and keyless entry done too so I was in the neighborhood of $700 for all that stuff done. But the power windows alone was around $300.

Factory components. All I had was what I listed above, I didnt go an buy a underdash wiring harness or anything. When I did a little research before posting I saw where people were saying you could simply run 12v power to the 99-02 switches and they would work and thats what I ended up doing. Im not sure If you could put in power locks using the same method I used for the windows.. I think an aftermarket car alarm/keyless entry setup would be better for power locks.
Like I said, Ill finish the wiring and post back here either today or tomorrow.

If you have a donor vehicle and are not having to pay for parts individually like I did, and assuming of course that the donor vehicle is a 99-02 and we are talking about your 2000 GMC sierra, then your best option would be to swap the under dash harness from the donor into yours. It makes everything plug and play ( or so I was told ) you shouldnt have to flash the BCM on a 99-02 truck.

could you guys update the post with pictures? I am going to get parts for this swap this weekend, I can get anything I want- from a guy who is parting out a truck. so far I have requested the power doors with panels and in the door harness, the under the dash harness and drivers side junction box. what else do I need, and what are guys doing to get the harness out from its location and putting in the new one?

Sorry for not getting back to yall I had honestly forgot all about this website.. Anyway Ive got pictures of the wiring and wiring diagrams in this imgur album .
Its been awhile since me and my friend did it but I believe we wired a relay to the courtesy lighting and straight to the 12v input to the fuse box with a fuse in the truck before it splits to the driver and passenger sides.
Its a fairly simple process as all it needs is 12v power, a ground, and a wire to the passenger side to control that switch.

You have to use 99-02 switches as the later models have to communicate with the computer and wont work like this.

If anyone has any questions for me Id be more than happy to help or provide more information, Just please DM/PM me as it goes to my email that way and im sure to see it quickly.

One option would be to buy a fuse tap. They cost $5-$15 depending on the store, and make sure you get "mini fuse tap" and not "low profile mini fuse tap", they're not interchangeable.

How it works is you plug it in to a fuse slot already in use (you'll know as you can see metal posts where the fuse plugs in). The original fuse goes into the bottom slot on the tap, and the fuse for the new circuit goes on top. Run the hot wire from the power window motors into the butt connector on the fuse tap and find a good ground (there's a few bolts underneath the dash below the steering wheel that work great).

Note that using the drivers side fuse box will have power go to the windows only when the ignition is in. If you want your power windows to run without the key in the ignition, your best bet is the fuse box under the hood, and fish the wire through the hole in the firewall for the hood release.

If you don't mind me asking, what kit did you get for power windows? I've been meaning to replace my manual windows as well and will be doing the project soon!

Why not just buy 2 electric motors with regulators and add the switches ? I bought a cheap universal power window kit the motors were junk but the wiring and switches look good so my plans are buy the 2 regulators/motors install them with the universal switches I looked up window glass and they appear to be the same glass for manual or electric windows
