Hey all, I've had this truck since Oct of 2015. Just now getting around to getting it posted in here and showing the progress from where I've started! I haven't done a huge overhaul, but I am slowly making this truck fit my needs! Excited to keep finding new things to upgrade on the truck.

The first two pictures were the day of purchase for me. The truck already had step sides, the bed rhino lined, and a rugged cover hardtop folding bed cover. This was a huge head start for me and a serious cash saver!

Changed the transfer case fluid tonight for the first time @ 70k. Unreal how many metal shavings. That's not all of the fluid, by the way. First quart bottle couldn't hold anymore and I had to make do.

I have the chrome ones and want to rip them off!! Im thinking the black would look better. I wonder if anyone else makes them out of metal, the plastic ones feel flimsy.
Mine were black! They were the polymer plastic material, too. I'm not sure if they are made out of metal. Would be nice if they were. I couldn't find oem painted handles ANYWHERE online.

Back bumper is complete. Waiting on front bumper and front door emblems to dry. Love how it turned out compared to the chrome before.

Can't decide whether or not to leave the chrome emblems on the tailgate or spray those, too.

Finished the plasti dip on the bumpers and emblems. Tell me what you think! Should I do the grille as well? Can't decide whether or not to leave the front door emblems how they are or go back to chrome.

Looks like a brand new truck!!! Nice job making sure to get even coats and all. The black really goes with the smoked black chrome 22s! The overall appearance is amazing! I'm thinking I might need to black out my badges on mine too! Trying to decide whether or not to debadge or plasti dip them all. On the fence about the molding on the doors as well.

Oh and I liked that you posted a pic of yourself with your truck. Hardly anybody does that here. Only a handful. Nicely done.

Neal, thank you! I love the new look with the wheels. Still have the chrome for a winter set. The cargo lights were super easy. I just did a bulb replacement and didn't run a separate switch for it. May do that in the future. Is that what you're doing with yours?

Heck, I was happy as could be to get a picture with it. I've noticed though that hardly anyone has a picture of themselves with it, as you said.

I think tomorrow I am going to rip off the plasti-dip on the door emblems and de-badge the truck. Looking at purchasing these step sides and this Denali grille in the near future. I think that will help tie in the bumpers and the step sides when that time comes.

Looking good. Those steps and grille will look awesome.
I dipped my badges black a few years ago and just recently de-badged (I didn't bother removing the PD) so much cleaner looking and easier to clean...you'll love it.

I was referring to the lights you did with a switch in the bed...under the rails. I have a strip led for putting under there and a waterproof switch to install where you put yours. Will be tapping into power in the back from the trailer harness.

Have you considered paint matching the bumpers and grill vs black?

Oh, gotcha! I ended up running the wire all the way to the battery. Didn't want to do any splicing back there. I love the spot for the switch. It blends in perfectly.

I haven't thought about having them paint matched, yet. However, of my closest friends is a painter at a body shop. I'm waiting for him to get a vehicle the same color as mine again and he will "accidently" mix up too much paint. :D

Understood. I guess too much black on the front makes me think work truck. I can look good if done right. And....we all have different tastes....so what I like is not so importance! Haha

Well black is pretty easy...and you can always repaint later to color match if you change your mind. Did you pick up your wheels from Craigslist or something? Those seem pretty pricey to get OEM takeoffs...at least around here they are.

Agreed, plasti dip makes everything look cheaper... well except tool handles which is really what it was meant for.

I don't think most people post pics of themselves with their trucks because this is mostly an all male site and I'll go out on a limb and say it, most guys don't like looking at other guys, they just want to see the vehicle. Now if you have a nice female model, sure throw her in the pic, couldn't hoit.

Agreed. I will eventually go color matched, I imagine. A friend of mine works at a dealership and a friend of his purchased a new set of wheels. He asked Zach (friend that works at dealership) if he knew anyone interested in the wheels. I was able to get the wheels and tires for $1100. I felt that was an extremely good price considering it was a complete set. The tires probably have two more summers on them before they will need to be replaced. I don't rack up a lot of miles so I can get a bit out of them still.

Kill the plastidip, it makes it look like a a work truck with the nice wheels.

I was just curious to see how it would look black. Neal had mentioned that too much black would make it look like a work truck. That thought never crossed my mind until after the fact. I hate chrome, so I am just exploring my options right now. Nice thing about the dip is I can just peal it off. Nothing permanent for experimenting.

I use it in the winter to protect wheels, then peel it off come spring time. Hard to tell it's dip from a distance, just looks like paint. Nothing is permanent right now. I understand where you're coming from with posting pictures of themselves. It was my first picture of/with the truck, so I wanted to post it. Don't like it, scroll past. (Not referring to you directly or trying to single you out. General statement.)
I'll work on getting a model for it and then I'll let you take a gander. Haha :D
