3. Anyone know if theyre still using the same torque converts that like to blow up around 100k with their remans?
Yup, same JMBX converter.

Just had a reman installed under warranty on our Suburban w/90k miles. Dealer should have replaced the torque converter when it was acting up…but it didn’t throw any codes so they got to replace the entire tranny instead.

I’ll be replacing the torque converter on my own dime after I put around 60k miles on it.

I replaced the converter in my Silverado at 90k miles - no warranty - at the first sign of acting up and before it took the tranny out with it.

Well damn, but kinda figured. And ya I was thinking about dropping the pan at 2.5 year mark since the tranny has a 3yr/100k warranty. Seeing if there's a substantial amount of metal. If so, reinstalling the pan metal and all and dumping the old fluid back in her, taking it back to the dealer for a new one. If no or limited metal go ahead swap the filter put a pan with a plug back on and go ahead and swap the torque converter then. I've seen several posts of the converters going bad as early as 40k.

Yeah I recently had a GM reman tranny out in our Suburban under warranty.
I’m going to swap the torque converter at the first fluid change.

Overkill for sure, but I see it as cheap insurance.

Does the new TBV come with a new gasket? If not, does anyone have that part number?
No, it does not. GM p/n is 23135703. Can also use Dorman p/n 66219.

I ordered the part number 85585333 for my 2020 Silverado Custom but it did not fit. I have the six speed transmission. The part I received had 70C stamped on it but the holes for the lines were too small by a good bit. Any ideas on what I need?

Can you just swap the insides of the new one into your original housing? You will have to remove it from the side of the transmission first of course. I think I remember seeing a YT video explaining that. You say the line holes are smaller, but are the center's of each line in the same location as on your original?

Well called my local deal to see what it would be to get this installed..... somehow they quoted 900 for the part and 800 for installation.

Just gonna order it myself, but wondering how bad the install is? seems pretty plug and play with the old one for a 2016 1500

Thats
I dont think they quoted you the right job.

The part is $75 and it takes 15 minutes. Mine did mine for free when I had them flush the trans.
what I’m wondering, if that is somehow the quote for a full new install of the cooler lines.

as far as I know though a 2016 should have the correct connectors that you can simply swap the part without changing the lines right?

Yes. I just did a swap on my 2016 Silverado. See my posts above with some installation hints.

i just found out about this bulletin. Have a 2018 1500 that i just had the dealer do a trans flush on at 60k miles, they didn't mention this at all. Called them today to see about getting it done and they quoted $160 for parts and $324 for labor, $484+tax total. Seems steep so will probably shop around and/or try to do it myself.

for reference the bulletin i gave them was 21-NA-199. took me 5min of explaining to them what i wanted done for them to even look into it, kept trying to tell me i needed a $250 diagnostic assessment done first. smh

That's the correct TSB. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10207911-9999.pdf

Their quote is highway robbery.

The MSRP of the part (85585333, it supercedes 86774933) is $109.71. So they wanted to overcharge you $50.29 on the part.

Maybe they were including a new seal (85628205, it supercedes 23135703) but the MSRP is only $7.22. I was able to reuse my seal.

The TSB says 0.6 hours for the job. So their hourly rate is $540/hr!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :ROFLMAO:

You should actually tell them you want that quote in writing. Then call Chevrolet and report it.

I did it myself in the driveway. It took about 20 minutes. If you read the whole thread there is lots of discussion on installation details.

have had mine on for over a year trans doesn’t go above 147 in winter summer really hot gets to 156😎👍 they ever say the reason for new part number
I haven't heard a reason. I got 85585333 when I ordered the part in 1Q23. It also has 70 stamped on the body of the valve so it wasn't because of a temperature setpoint change.

yea, i figured. it was for all 4 part numbers listed in the TSB that came out to $159. I asked about the 0.6hr, and they said that's the "warranty" rate that Chevy will pay them, the "consumer" rate is 1.5-2hrs. Asked the service guy if he recommended it, and he said "we don't typically recommend it unless there's something wrong with the transmission". Definitely won't be getting service done there.

called a different dealer, they asked for my VIN and said "no TSB's or recalls are out for your truck". I'm assuming they're also dumb given the TSB came out in 2021, and there's no chance my truck has the updated TBV? why can't dealers just be normal...

i may just have the local shop install this instead. i could probably do it, but I'd rather pay someone (within reason) to make sure it's done right https://superiortransmission.com/product/superior-stl010/

Can someone help identify this thermostat? Actually looks like a bypass, but this has only been serviced at the dealer. I have a 2022 limited GMC elevation went to check and see if this was the updated transmission thermostat or install my superior solutions valve and saw this today.
