Hey y'all,

I was wondering if anyone has been successful in painting chrome running boards. I want to paint mine black to match my truck. I was told to sand them down until all chrome is off, spray with etching primer, then spray the black on. Anyone have any input or experience with this?

You will be best to scuff, wipe clean use bulldog then spray with a 2 part paint (or single stage then 2 part clear). You can get the color code for your truck and get the exact color paint. You will need some equipment (spray gun/air compressor and really good paint mask 3m cartridge style) the ALL 2 (stage) part paint is very toxic!

Not sure if it is an option for you but I plastidipped the chrome part of my nerf bars black over a year ago to see how they would look and it's still holding up perfectly, even after a pretty bad winter last year. A lot easier than painting and if you don't like it, you can peel it off. Mine are the Lund oval bars.
