Just reached the 300k club in my 99 ECSB NBS Sierra 1500! Woo! But, as I am taking stock of my vehicle, I have decided to start rebuilding. I am redoing the suspension with new bushings and ball joints and all those goodies, but Decided that I should probably include "steering" and "suspension" Under the same header. That being said, Has anyone done a full write up on switching from a worm gear steering box to a rack and pinion on the NBS GMT 800? My current steering box is extremely worn out, and I though upgrading to the newer rack and pinion might make a difference in steering. Any input on the specifics of this swap as well as any input on the 03-06 rack and pinion would be greatly apreciated.
