Hi everyone.

I don't know if this normal or not. When I stop at a stop light, and I look down to the RPM gauge. The RPM gauge stays normal at 500 RPM, but a second later it start cripping up a little bit above 500 RPM. Then goes back down to 500 RPM, but also it goes down under 500 RPM. Then goes back up again to normal. It keeps on doing that untill I give it gas and It goes way, but secounds later it start doing it again. It always happens everytime I'm on an stop light. I always believed the RPM should always stay at 500 RPM.

I forgot to mention the truck as on an AirRaid MIT tube, AFE Pro dry S filter, and custom dual Magnaflow exhaust system. I don't know with this mods will make this problems or not.

Thanks.

It's due to loads being on and off of the motor. If your alternator or A/C are cycling it is going to affect rpm a little. If its stumbling while it is shifting then I would worry.

Not to beat this to death but I now need some clarification. I also was worried about my new truck seemimg to just about stall when stopped at a light , when idling etc. I took it into the dealership and was advised about the fuel saving program. By having the engine RPM's drop at idle it is a fuel saving feature. Now info. from you good folks that this may not be the case just equipment cycling on/off that causes this. OR am I just not getting the answer to this concern.
???

My truck's rpm shifts a little up and down, if your just about stalling out and the truck surges back to life you have a bigger problem.

I've had a 97 Sierra, and still drive my 03. They both did a little RPM dance at a stop light- usually less than 100 RPM up or down; nothing really to worry about, unless the needle REALLY starts jumping around (like it did when my throttle plate was gummed over).
