Service 4wd message along with stabilitrak and traction control turning itself on and off randomly

Hey everyone I’m new to the forums and I’ve been battling this issue with my truck for a few months now. I have a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. Every time I start up my truck, the “service 4wd” indicator will come on and won’t allow me to go into 4 high or 4 low. Doesn’t seem like the truck is stuck in 4wd or anything. The transfer case seems to be working properly and everything because sometimes I’ll get lucky and will be able to shift into 4wd before the indicator comes on (sometimes it won’t come on right when I start the truck). I’ve done some research and as everyone knows, once electrical problems begin, they suck to chase. A code that i pulled off the computer is p2771 4WD low switch circuit. I just watched a video with someone having the same issue and they cleaned the ground connection right underneath the driver side door that grounds to the cab mount and that seemed to fix the issue for them. I have not tried doing that yet, so that may be my next move. If anyone has any information on that, it’d be very helpful! The other issue I’m running into that seems to be more severe is the stabilitrak and traction control randomly turning itself off simultaneously. This is causing the truck to go into limp mode and cutting the engines power and changing the shift points. It will do this on and off and I’m at a loss as to what it could be. Any tips would help!

You have a circuit code. Either a wiring, module, switch or sensor problem. The range sensors on the encoders tend to fail. It wouldn’t hurt to unplug and check connectors for moisture intrusion and corroded terminals.
Do you have any engine performance codes? Most codes will disable stabilitrak

So I have replaced the encoder motor now and the incremental position sensor and the lights still come on. Service 4wd along with stabilitrak and traction control turning on and off randomly. Before the service 4wd alert comes on on the dash, the 4wd will work. Once the alert comes on though, nothing. I checked the terminals on the connectors and they seem fine. GM did a load test on them and they seem to be working fine.

Any luck guys. My 2012 gmc 2500 started doing the same. At first it would move to 4x4 low and high but it would take awhile. Then i took it to the island and got stuck. Put it on 4x4 high but only back tires would move even though the light was on 4x4 high. I replace front actuator a couple years ago and when i took off transfer case actuator the 2wd light didnt light up at all and i got all 3 messages. service 4x4 service stabilitrack service traction control. I replaced the transfer case actuator but it did nothing. i cleaned ground wires as well and nothing.

I am also having these issues but found out the hard way...I was merging into the hwy doing maybe 35-40 mph because it was snowing a whole lot, while I was getting on to the hwy the four wheel drive just decided to turn off and my rear end kicked out so I ended up into a guardrail. Anyone have any luck fixing this?

1. The truck somehow exitting 4wd wasn't the problem. You were driving too fast for the conditions, if that happening results in your truck going out of control.
2. Stop throwing parts at the truck and diagnose the problem. When those alerts come up, those systems will generate codes. A more advanced code reader can get codes from them, to give you a starting point, as the codes will have a diagnostic procedure to find what's causing them. What happens to fix the problem for someone elses truck may or may not have anything to do with what's causing the problem for your truck.

I don't know about everyone else with their causes on this issue but after further inspection mine turned out to be a severed wire that had been causing it.
We've got a bunch of chipmunks around our house and I caught one of them jumping out from the wheel well one day and I knew exactly what he had been up to:rolleyes:.
A couple butt connectors and electrical tape fixed it and then I wrapoed the entire wiring harness in aluminum coated furnace tape as those chipmunks don't want anything to do with biting through metal.
Took the vehicle up to a local Jiffy Lube and they reset the computer.. check engine and traction control lights went out.
Haven't had any issues since I've done this

Chipmunks are a menace. They can actually damage the foundation of a house. I've killed about 170 around my house in the last year.
