I’m making a decision right now, need to make the call tomorrow, so do I buy a 2015 Chevrolet 2500hd duramax LML with 77,000 miles on it, non tuned, for $45,000 or not?

Im worried about the cp4 pump imploding and taking out the whole fuel system. I would install the lift pump, and the exergy fuel system saver, but is it smart to buy this with that looming issue. How common is it really? Thanks for your help!!

Depending on cab configuration and trim level, that's a fair price these days assuming it's in good shape.

I bought my 2015 CCSB High Country in December of 2019 with 57k miles on it for $45k. Trucks have since gone up insanely high in price.

As for the CP4, I would put a lift pump and run good fuel with a good additive. I wouldn't bother wasting the time or money for a system saver, as it will not save anything in the event of a failure.

I ditched my cp4 all together and swapped in a cp3. Far more reliable and much more room to grow down the road. I originally had a sportsman pump, but now have a 12mm stroker. But thats only due to the 100% over injectors I'm running to help feed to compound turbo setup lol.

But in short, if the truck is nice and you want it, buy it. You will not regret getting a diesel. You'll never want to drive a gas truck again.

Base model and if you can even find one lol. There is practically zero new trucks available in my area. Everything is used. There are very few and far between for the new trucks, and most are higher trim levels as that's what sells anymore. Not too many people want a base model truck anymore as they use them for their daily driver and family transport.

$45k is about the going price for a nice condition, decent trim level LML (k2xx body). The L5P trucks are more money depending on trim and milage.

The crew cab and LTZ and High Country (SLT and Denali) will demand the highest prices.

Back in May I paid the equivalent USD of 32k for a 2013 Sierra SLE CC with 86k miles on it. All stock and in great shape. At the time there was very few diesels around that were worth looking at.
I’m currently dealing with getting head gaskets done along with studs. I didn’t expect them to go but it is what it is.

i love my 6.0 work truck and it is a great daily when you have two messy kids and a dog … vinyl floors baby.

LT trucks going for 47.5. if you tow heavy in the mountains or are just a diesel enthusiast, by all means get the 2015. if you want the most value for your dollar considering reliability, capability, and future repair costs, imho the new gasser is a no brainer over a 7 y/o diesel with 80k miles.

What trim level is the truck?

I agree with @davester3500 -- for that money you should be able to find something newer

Depending on trim, I think I'd be looking for a new one

I've never owned a diesel truck, but that price seems really high for the age of the truck. Even counting for the inflation of the panademic. Personally, I would continue searching for you want, maybe in a different state or further out. If it means you get what you want for the dollar. If you need something ASAP, than act accordingly.
