Silver GM truck owners,

Here is your opportunity to show off your exterior mods in a central location where only owners of silver trucks are welcome. Other colors will have to launch their own thread.

Before I buy/take on a modification I always Google the idea to try to predict what it will look like on my truck. Unfortunately, Google brings up tons of pictures of tons of trucks in all colors. Hopefully with enough participants we'll be able to build up a database for all silver truck owners to go and be inspired.

Take a picture of your truck's mod and give us
1. The make/model of the mod
2. Price
3. Time invested
4. Recommendation on a scale of 1-10

My 2010 GMC Sierra Extended Cab. I'm new to the site and just showing people my truck and giving ideas becasue this is where I get most of mine.

-blacked out GMC emblems.
-20in chrome denali rims plastidipped black.
-removed side molding on doors.
-10,000k HID's.
-front end leveled up.

I'd love to have more ideas becasue I'm always looking for something else to do.

I
(1) Westin Sportsman Grille Guard
(2) $496.97 (with tax)
(3) 1.5 hrs
(4) 10 of 10. Granted, I've only had it overnight, but I bought exactly what I researched and wanted.

II
(1) Dupli-color high gloss blacked out Bow Ties
(2) Free, left over from a previous household project
(3) 4 hours (30 min to scotch-brite the gold, 30 min to tape off, and 6 coats per bow tie) still have to polish out imperfections
(4) time will tell

III

(2) Free
(3) 2 hrs (remove, polish. and re-wax)
(4) 9 of 10. Now I have to park at the end of the parking lot ;)

(3) 45 min
(4) pending

V
(1) Truck Champ nerf bars

(3) 1 hr (by hand)
(4) 5 of 10. They are a little scuffed up and starting to show rust bubbles

Here's one shot after I added the 6.2L emblem. Can't seem to add more than one pic at a time,so I may have to just add more pics in a follow up comment. Whatever.

Here's one more shot of the 2011 grill insert with black mesh and blacked out bowtie,Just didn't care much for the chrome mesh inserts on the 2011s so the dealer allowed me to swap out at no charge.

Image

In total the only mods I've done to date are:

1) rear wheel liners GM cost $99 highly recommend
2) front leveling kit/ billet aluminum/cost $59/installed myself/highly recommend
3) blacked out bowties front and rear/ looks more manly IMO/therefore highly recommend
4) installed 2011 grill insert with black mesh/also done for manly reasons/ highly recommended
5) added stainless steel lazer cut 6.2L emblems to rear gate/ yet another manly addition/highly recommended
6)Also had dealer allow me to keep the 18" Z71 rims from my 2011 along with the BFGs/ IMO look much nicer that the 17s the 2012 came stock with
7) added Z71 skid plates to lower frame to protect engine and transfer case/dealer included these as part of the deal/tapped holes and installed myself. Didn't care much for the self tappers that came with the skid plate kits.

Glad to see a Silver truck roll call, would hate to be left out!
2005 Sierra 1500 CC.5.3L Silver Birch Metalic. I have only had it a month so I have a ton more I have on my to do list for it. So far:

-20% tint on frint windows and windshield strip to match rear windows
- Iron Cross Nerf bars (in stainless)
- Flow master 40 Series on factory pipe with 3.5" tip out the passenge side.
- came with Fierce Attitude M/T tires that I think are awesome.

having issues posting a pic on this post, but there are a couple on my profile for your viewing pleasure.

Plain old Silver Birch. It's only a work truck so I have tons of work to do, including adding power windows, drop shackles, rims, roll pan, remove tailgate decal, the works.
It has tint that the dealer put on a few days before I bought it so I don't know the percentage.
Two 12" Kicker Comps bridged and seriously underpowered on a Kicker DX 300W 2 channel amp.
JVC KDR530 headunit.

25% That picture makes it look much darker than it is. I was just looking to match the factory tint in the rear. It's only been on for about a half hour, but very happy with Independent Window Tinting in Rapid City, SD [shameless plug] and solar guard tint.
The tint looks great! One of my friends has 5% on the side and rear windows and 40% on his windshield. Can't see for **** out of his truck. But cops here in NM don't care about tint :D
