Those people who say lifting a 2wd truck is just "posing" or being something their not, are probably just jealous that other peoples lifted 2wd looks better than their 4x4. I'd say lift it. Lifted trucks look better anyway. 2wd or 4x4. Most people who lift 2wd do it for looks anyway. And I think they look damn good.

Still a poser....
If I'm going to do a lift, I want to be able to back up my "claim".
Generally lifted trucks are 4WD.
Level kit I can understand, a lot of people don't like the rake.
But I will tell you this, if I had a 2 wheel drive truck that I put a lift on in Midland, Michigan; I darn sure don't want to get stuck in 4 inches of snow and need to be pulled out and then have to tell my rescuer that it just "looks" like a 4x4.....

Just sayin'

Dont listen to the 4wd snobs. Only a "poser" would customize his/her truck based on other people's opinions and not their own. Make your truck however ya want!

As I was saying before, if you would read. I'm not trying to be a "poser". I am not trying to make it look like a 4x4. I'm just trying to get a little extra ground clearance for rough areas I have to go to for work and to help my grandpa get his property cleaned up so he can stop getting huge fines from his county.

And again, if you would read, you would see not to far up I posted a link to a leveling kit that I was saying would probably be a lot better for me than a lift.

Not everyone can afford a nice brand new 2013 4x4. I actually use my truck for what a truck was meant for. Hauling stuff, and sometimes in places that aren't paved.

We all do whatever mods make us happy. I say go for it.

By the previous definition, I'm a poser too... :D
I have a DVD Nav in my truck, but rarely use it for more than just a radio, but it sure is nice when I need a quick direction. Your lift/level is the same... sometimes a little extra clearance helps a lot.

Gone off the OP's topic a little.
Yes, Ken...I have said from the start (I was the first to respond to your post.) Get a level kit and be done with it.

I do understand that you are not wanting to be a poser.
In my mind (and most people, I would suspect) a poser is someone that conveys something they are not. I am just saying that a 2.5 suspension lift and a three inch body lift is something a poser puts on a 2WD. You've got the look, but nothing to back it up.

No Dave, you are not a poser because you have a nav system. You use the nav as intended when necessary. Granted most of the guys with lifted trucks on here are mall crawlers and never go off road, but if they HAD to, they could....therefore they are not posers either.

I know people with lifted 4x4's that would never even think about getting it dirty. So if they can lift theirs just because they want to for looks and nothing else, then why can't us 2WD folks do the same?

While I agree with Dave that we all make our trucks our own, I still think lifting a 2WD anything more than a simple level kit is being a poser.
That's as silly as saying people who debadge a 4x4 or z71 are posing as a 2wd.

No it isn't.
Now, putting a Z71 4x4 sticker on a 2WD is as ridiculous as lifting a 2WD.

Y'all do what you want.....but be prepared to be laughed at when people find out your truck with a 5 inch lift is a 2WD.

I would almost guarantee most of the people on this site with a lifted 4x4 feel the same as I do.
I'm just the one with the 'nads to say it.

Lifting a 2WD anything more than a simple level is NO different than sticking a 6.0 emblem on a truck with a 4.3. Say what you want about this being what the owner "needs" maybe, but that is really not the case. Nobody needs a 5 inch lift on a 2WD. It is purely to look like a bad ass 4x4 when it's not. I can walk around with a Mr Universe belt on because "I like it" guess what?
I will be laughed at constantly (especially with my physique). But what the heck right? It's what I like and want.....

I am what I am (as Popeye says), I don't try to be something I'm not nor will I ever.
I'm an obnoxious, loud mouth prick, always have been. But I tell it like I see it. So keep your lifted 2WD trucks away from me unless you are prepared to be ridiculed.

I'm sure these lifted 2wd's can back up their "claim"!

Not all off-roading is mindless mudding...
With the right rear end (e.g. locker) and a good set of tires snow isn't that much of an issue.
Besides he asking about lifting the truck 2.5 inches for better ground clearance on the roads he already drives on, so he can obviously get around on them now, but would just like the added height.

You're going to be hard pressed to find anyone with a 4WD that actually "needs" the lift. It's for looks either way, and both 2WD and 4WD trucks look good lifted.

Is that all you've got?

Oh brother....here we go....
Those happen to be purpose built trucks.
I had a rail buggy back in the 80's with a beetle engine that would go places no 4WD would go. The rail buggy was built for off roading. Like those pics you presented. Although I do think a couple of those have never been off road either and couldn't back up the look if they wanted to.

Next......

I think he is building his for a purpose too. To USE it and not bottom out on a bump in the field.

Stay on topic! The OP has a legitimate question.

Let's stay objective and drop the taunts.

I'm pretty sure the OP is just going with a level and that is it. (good for him)
I have said at least a couple of times on this thread that I don't have an issue with that.
Heck I would level a 2WD asap if I didn't have a boat to tow.
