Ok so I plan to make a few small changes to my truck. (2015 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L)

CAI and Exhaust system is what I have planed.

After that I want to get it tuned. But I have no idea what to use to tune it. Or if I should just take it some place?

What do you guys think is the best option?

I'm looking for better MPG in normal driving, and some extra power for towing.

Thanks guys!

Spent a lot of time reading on this last night and I think I will be going with the Diablo Trinity. I like the features you get with it.

Now I just need to pick out an intake and a catt back.

I'm leaning toward the Flowmaster dual kit, and an Airaid intake right now. But I'm not 100% sure on ether yet.
I have time. I don't plan to buy any of this stuff for about 3 months any way.

Flowmasters are good they wont burn a hole in your wallet but they give you a nice deep rumble, as long as you get duals it is hard to go wrong, I am still running stock exhaust but next year I am also looking to get a flowmaster dual.

Since the OP said MPG in normal driving....what are you tuned guys getting when driving normal unloaded? I'm on the fence whether to purchase a 2500.
Well I average 11 mpg in town and some highway but thats because i have bigger than the stock tires, I am running 285 instead of 265, also i have an 87 octane tune which upped my mpg a bit when I installed it, but with the way gas prices are if they stay like this don't hesitate to get a 2500, I believe the newer model 2500's can get around 15 highway and 13 city, which is pretty alright if you ask me. The 2500 is bigger, weighs a little more, in my opinion it also looks better, but it really comes down to how much you tow. If you don't tow alot and need mpg stick with a 1500, otherwise 2500. If your like me and you tow occasionally but you like the look of the 2500 then you can't go wrong with it.

Don't get a Flowmaster, they are chambered and actually hamper performance. Get a straight through design, such as a Corsa or Magnaflow, or, since you already have 3.5" pipe (I think?) just do a muffler swap. I recommend the Aero/Jones Turbine 3535XL for you....not too loud, but sounds awesome. And for the intake, just get an Airaid MIT. The stock box is already a CAI, it just has a very restrictive path to the throttle body.

Right now I am seeing about 13mpg city, and 15mpg highway. I see 17mpg when in 55mph state routes.

My 25 average best to date on flat land is 18.4mpg.

I like the sound of the flowmaster. But would rather have performance and fuel economy then sound.

The only intakes I have found for my truck so far replace the filter and filter box as well as the tube.

My 2015 2500 6.0L is totally stock. Average for all local stuff.. in town, rural two lane hard top, gravel roads, off road, etc... about 14 mpg summer, 13 mpg winter. For road trips, I have consistently gotten 17-18 mpg summer and 16-17 winter. All mostly on E10 and E15 fuel regular fuel. All of those hand checked pump to pump averages which is within a tenth or two of the DIC. Only change from stock is Magnaflo muffler. All the rest of the exhaust stock. No CAI, just stock intake and filter.

Haven't been motivated to do a tune on it. Quite content with it as it is.

I'm seeing about the same MPG as you. I am running E10 fuel as that is all you can get here.
We are also on winter blend at this point.

Tho I would like to see a little better.

I'm shooting for 18mpg highway on winter fuel no trailer.

And then more power when I tow.
So I plan to tune it for sure. I just need to get an intake and exhaust system on the truck first so I can make the most of the tune!

majority of them do, you can just get a high performance air filter like a K&N, I ended up getting a spectre CAI since i decided to go cheap ($140) I have had it in for a month it was a tight fit but its still in there and hasn't shifted or anything. K&N CAI would be a good choice too. You might see 1mpg gain it is hard to say.

Done right, it might be possible to get to where you want on mpg, but kind of a tough call on that one. If you can pull it off, keep us posted. Might convince me to take a shot at the tune.
If you are satisfied now you will be even more satisfied with a tune lol, extra power and a small gain in mpg you can't go wrong :D
MPG would be the only thing that would impress me. The stock 6.0 power is more than adequate for what I need. I have done tunes on other engines before that gave a little more power, and didn't notice a bit of difference because i don't drive any pickup like I am driving a sports car. Hauling a load of stuff thru a farm field or around my property, or hauling a bunch of drums of oil and other stuff, I have never noticed a tune, in regards to power, ever made any difference. Same for general driving. I don't do WOT light to light kind of driving, so any slight gain in power is not going to be noticed.

I thought I read a post on here last night about people losing some low end torque with the straight through magnaflow mufflers? Seems like a 2500, good for towing and hauling, would need all the torque it can get. Might have been on another forum. I'll try and find it.
Well, never put mine on a dyno to check, but I have noticed nothing different between stock muffler and the Magnaflo I have on mine. Check out the discussion on Myths of Back Pressure. Freeing up the exhaust is not going to reduce power unless it is done to the extreme. The stock exhaust piping is the same, only the muffler is now a straight thru design.

If freeing up the exhaust causes a loss of torque, one is going to have to explain how me putting on a ported/polished/Ceramic coated manifold, larger Borg Warner non waste gated turbo with a blanket, and Walker Megaflow mufflers on the stacks reduced the torque on my 12.7L Detroit 60 in my semi when it can walk the hill under full load at 1400 RPM and stay right with stock Cat's and Cummins that have more base torque. And in doing so, also runs around 200F or more cooler on EGT's. And busts the national commercial semi truck mpg average by 20%. Not an apples to apples comparison, but when things are done right, reducing back pressure has beneficial rewards. I am going to be very skeptical that replacing the trash can muffler on the 2500 with a straight thru design muffler is going to negatively affect power in any way.

Ok so I bought the Diablo Trinity T1000.

I got it from auto anything for $463.97 with next day shipping. But do to the holiday, it will probably not be here until Monday.

Going to have Lew do a custom tune for me after I get an exhaust system on it in the spring.

For now I will just run the tune that comes with it and see how I like that.

Good thread, I was looking for this type of info. I have a 2015 2500 6.0. I also have a I-tune 1000 that I used on my prior 09 Silverado 5.3, that I had geared differently for more towing capacity, I bought the tuner to adjust speedometer and to change a few other items, like temp control, shifting patterns etc. My thought since I purchased the new truck I wouldn't need to use the tuner for anything so I was going to sell it. I had it offered for $200 but now after dealing with some locals on wanting it for cheaper, I am thinking of keeping it and seeing what I can get out of it for my new truck. I don't remember exactly what stock tunes are available that would provide a little more power or even a little more MPG, so I wanted to through the question out here to a number of more knowledgeable people. Is it a good idea, or just leave things alone? I am towing a 5th wheel that will be 12 to 13 thousand pounds. Thanks in advance..

Thank you!

So far I have tried all the runes that came with mine and see no difference over stock.
I ran the MPG tune for a few weeks and saw NO change in my MPG. I ran all the other tunes and saw no change in the power, or the MPG over stock.

Right now I am running the stock tune, with the only change being that I corrected for the slightly larger tires I have now.

I am going to try a custom tune soon, and will report back on if it actually makes any noticeable change in the way the truck dives, or performs.

But honestly, I suspect that with these naturally aspirated motors there is vary little power to be had with just a computer.

We are not talking about a DOHC engine here, and there is no boost to turn up, so I suspect gains will be limited at best.

Let us know how your truck dose pulling that big TT. I don't think it will have any problems my self. The 6.0l is a hell of a motor.

You may have covered this, and I'm going to show ignorance. I have been wanting to do the HP/Torque gains and get better MPG. So I've read about things like Edge programmers, bully dog, Diablo sport, and have also looked into bringing it into a custom tuning place like black bear performance. What's the pros and cons to both? And is one better than the other? From what I have found the price is near the same.
