I'm not sure about your 2008, but the solution on my 2000 might help you find what you're looking for.

A. My door ajar sensor is simply connected the door latch mechanism. In other words, if I take an object and collapse the door latch mechanism in the door, the computer thinks my door is shut. This is not practical of course, because unless you remember to pull the door handle, if you go to shut the door.... Bad things. Not to mention the dome light wouldn't work. This is more FYI.
B. This is what you're after... In my interior fuse panel on the left side of the dash, is a brown harness plug with about 4-5 wires. 3 or 4 tan and one black in the upper right of the plug (looking at as plugged in. If you look at it from the female unplugged side, it would be the upper left most). The previous owner had apparently equally disliked the dinging and simply cut the wire. No ding... I found this out quickly when I reconnected it.

I don't recall if this wire cut had any impact on the dome lights, it was the first of many "wire muckeries" that I found and reversed from the P/O.

I'm leaving mine connected like factory, but if you found the equivalent wire on the 2008 model; I might recommend putting in a switch in the line versus just cutting it. It at least gives you the override/disable option.

If you flip through the DIC (Driver Information Center) buttons you may be able to find the option to turn off your chimes. The buttons are near your drivers side air vent. You know, the buttons that flip through Odometer, Avg MPG. I think its the one with a check mark. It's used to change the language display on your truck, chimes, when interior lights come on and off, and some other things can be changed too. I suggest trying that. Just asking, is your truck an LS LT or LTZ or work truck? I'm not sure the basic packages have all of the feature of the LTZs and LTs

The Chime is generated through the radio and comes out the left front speaker(s). I think you can shut it off but you have to find the schematics to your stereo. I say this because I had my speakers go out in my 04' (now traded in) and I decided to replace the speakers and upgrade to a Pioneer Blu-ray stereo. And when wiring it up, there is a wire that goes to, or for the chime. Give that a try.. I know on the later models, you can turn it down......

I have an 03 and if you pull the dash apart and take the stereo out there is a black box that the harness goes to before it gets to your stereo. This is for on star and the door dinger you would have to cut the plugs off and directly wire it. You would lose on star but I'm not sure if anyone uses that anymore. I cannot confirm if this would be the same for you, I have an aftermarket radio that I did not install. I don't know if the box was there from the factory.

Turn off your headlights and take the key out of the ignition before opening your door. Close the door and put on your seatbelt before trying to start the truck.
