I am currently running into some issues with my 2018 Chevy 1500 WT radio/USB. These issues have slowly come forward over the past few months but really hit home after my local Chevy dealer fixed the well-known transmission and engine cam issues. They currently have stated that them working on that those two areas should not affect the radio and USB port. I am skeptical but looking for some insight from the forums.

Some background information and in-house diagnose:
  • Center consol is the fold seat style.
  • No other USB locations in truck.
  • Reset programs and let battery sit for 20-30 minutes disconnected. Nothing happened.
  • Checked fuses. still serviceable but replaced anyways. nothing happened.
  • Decided to pull fuse and put a blown fuse in both radio and USB fuse locations, and for some reason the radio stayed on... maybe that's my issue? Other than that, nothing happened.
  • Replaced USB port with OEM, you guessed it, nothing.
  • Replaced factory wire harness with OEM Harness. P/N: 23252399. Nothing happened.
  • Took Multimeter to new plugs, fuses and everything in-between and nothing happened. Keep in mind I'm a mechanic not an electrician and probably was checking wrong pins on the wrong settings. All I know is that it beeped when checking fuses and beeped when I checked pins.
  • There is power to the outlet and cigarette lighter.

Hoping someone might have some insight on this issue and possibly point me in the right direction. Last thing I want to do is bring it back to the dealership.

I'd assume you're getting no charge or data transfer from the USB hub to the radio. USB hubs need more than just power/ground to allow charging, they also need the data connection to the radio to engage the charge. Could be your vehicle's HMI's USB port has something wrong with it. That is the source of the data connection to the USB hub. I'd check continuity from the mini USB plug from the HMI to the USB hub. If you get continuity then I'd suspect the HMI. If you don't get continuity then trace it down. You already replaced the Front Center Seat Wiring Harness which you stated changed nothing. Hope this helps.
