What size gas tank do I have?

Ive long wondered what size gas tank I have. My rpo codes suggest a 20gal tank... but everything I read never mentioned 20gal tank for this model.

Technically my truck is a 2001 sierra HT 1500 4.8L std cab stepside. Ive filled up before and put 24gallons in her before... I dont usually drop below a quarter of a tank... but sometimes it happens. I could see fitting maybe 21-22 gallons in a 20gal tank... but 24 in a 20? No way... and it wasnt bone dry either. Im thinking 26gal tank.

Honestly, take your vin to the dealer. They can print off the complete list of options your truck has, and they can tell you which tank you have.

Lol ide like to see how you get 22gal in a 20 gal tank...

You got a 26 gallon, 24 gal is typical for below quarter fill up. The quantities are in the back of the manual...

IIRC short beds had 26 gallon, long beds 36. Both mine are 26.

on my 2001 it has a 26 gal tank, while I was under it it has a tag that said 26 gal

There is also a sticker under the hood on the fan shroud that lists the tank capacity

Oh wow. Really. I still have mine on my 95. And it looks like it was just stuck on yeterday. I guess all it takes is one time using a aggressive cleaner.
