For a 2012 Silverado 5.3 vortec? I'm using mobile 1 synthetic oil.

Just like oil, there really isn't "the best" filter. There are plenty of good ones. It really comes down to preferences.

My preference is Wix. Been using them for many years now in all of our GM trucks and SUVs. First oil change today on my 2016 and used Wix.

as someone who changes their oil every 5-7 weeks... i tend to go with just plain old ac-delco stuff

i am running the pf-63 instead of the pf48's these days for that little extra capacity, but last time i bought a bunch i got them at the same price, so why not.

kicking myself for not buying 2 dozen more when i did, as they're upwards of almost $7 each now for the 63's... up from the $3.41 i paid for the back in early feb of this year. oh well.. maybe they'll come on sale before i run out of the last few i have *fingers crossed*

if i were running extended oil changes of 10k miles or more and it was only getting changec once or twice a year i'd probably splurge for a higher quality filter. but for now.. these are getting the job done and my oil test results from blackstone show no reason to upgrade anytime soon.

As someone has said you will get a lot of different brands whatever works for all. Personally I use the Fram Ultra synthetic one size up for extra filtering volume the OE seems really small, is the reason for a bigger one. And as someone did say the Fram orange are cheap junk.

You're gonna get a ton of varying opinions. I use OEM for everything so on my GM products I go with AC Delco.
I also always used AC Delco filters too, until they went cheaper on them. I do not use the E filter. I am now sing the K&N filter. The nut on the end makes it a bit easier to remove it.

I ran K&N for years, because it just easy to remove. But after seeing more than one article showing the insides of many filters, I switched to the Baldwin B31. I'm saving a few bucks, and it's not that much more difficult to grab my oil filter wrench and loosen it up. Another good thing is now without that nut on the end, I can use a Phillips screwdriver and punch a small hole in the bottom and let it drain out, makes for much less mess when I twist it off.

have not noticed a difference between the few I have used fram ultras, mobile one, wix or K&N.

Reading and watching videos it makes you want to for sure buy a filter that has a metal core. Couple that with good filtration and you would be fine.

I also switched to Baldwin (from Mobil 1). Seems to be better made and ditto on the hole punching/draining the filter before removal.
