With or without my running boards? (Opinion)

I'm 23, I think I'm liking without the running boards more than with. Not so much grandpa look to it. The pics don't do the truck justice, you can't see the chrome mudflaps very well. Its a bad angle and the slanted driveway doesn't help. Ill post better pics of it with them off if needed since that is how I currently have it. My leveling kit is on order and will be on within a week or so and ill post a before and after for that as well. Just want to get some opinions on what people like better. Any comments will be appreciated! Thanks!

Looks better without the running boards.

I am 31 by the way......,
if everyone who responds posts their age, we can tell if it's just the old farts who like them

Without! I chopped mine off as soon as I got the truck! They look so ugly. And to continue the trend, I'm 17.

Get black ones and you will not notice them. They are handy when washing/waxing your truck and of course getting in.

Aaron after you lift it or even just a level just think of your poor 'ole Grandma trying to get in or even your Mom >>> Maybe a G F who is only 5' 1" LOl <<< and yes I'm 70+ ~~~

I'm 49 and I say leave them on there.
Yes, I would be classified as an "old fart" now, but I've driven a truck as my daily driver for 33 years (since I was 16) and every single truck had running boards / nerf bars.
I always use the running boards getting in and out of the truck (I'm 6'2") probably don't need them, but I figure I am saving the edge of the seat at least and anyone that might be vertically challenged will not have any issues getting in.
To me, running boards are no different than door handles....necessary

Without, I have taken them off all three trucks I have owned.

I got lucky and mine came with the 3" chrome round steps. The pontoons that they put on most look very grandpaish...........Plus the bilstein 5100s up front and 2.25 ready lift for the rear, and 2015 20" wheels help mine look nice i think. To each his own.

Definitely without!
Classified as an old fart I guess, but I play young.
If you have a short girlfriend it is fun boosting them onto the seat!

my $0.02 worth...... I like the way the truck looks WITH the running boards installed. Way better!
I would rather have the running boards than the bed rails.

But it only matters what you like!

Older than dirt, so I get two votes. ;-)

Running boards are like the stainless steel bars installed next to a toilet. Someday I might need them, but not yet. ;) (Born during the Kennedy era)

Yeah, I edited your first pic to put the trucks side by side.

There is an issue here to give a "good" answer. IF the running board ran the entire length between the front and rear tire, I would say go with the running board because it fills in a line between the front and rear chrome wheels, however, I think it looks naked without a nerf bar/running board when they are gone.

48 years old here and I say lose them. From the pics your truck looks better without them but if you are having a hard time getting in without them then leave them on.

Thanks for the replies guys. Much appreciated opinions. To answer a few of you, my girlfriend is 5'7" so she should be fine getting in and out. I'm trying to stay away from the "Lose all the Chrome and put on everything black you can find" trend that i'm seeing more these days. Black on black was neat in my eyes when only one out of every 15 trucks was doing it. IMO, i like the chrome bars and mudflaps, kinda gives it the backwoods (Hillbilly) tough look, yet on a truck with a shine to it. Like a few of you mentioned, its really up to what i like. I use my truck for hunting mostly, and moving people here and there every now and again. The rims i have will probably stay so if I ever scratch up a "rim" i can just replace the plastic cover instead of having to get a whole new rim. :) I would, however eventually like meatier tires on it but these came on it, nearly brand new so I figured id wear them down before i go buy new ones. Ill be sure to post more pics as I make more changes. I've only owned the truck for just short of a year so Ill just keep plugging away at smaller projects. Leveling kit next week sometime hopefully as long as it comes in.
