Can I use 5w-20 gas engine oil in a Duramax 3.0 diesel engine?
I went to the stealership the other day and my buddy had a cab off a '22 Silverado with 3.0L.I know just having some fun with you lol
Man I’ve had no problems with my 2023 3.0. Hope I don’t but it’s been smooth for me so far. I only have 17700 miles on it though.I went to the stealership the other day and my buddy had a cab off a '22 Silverado with 3.0L.
Had to replace motor mounts, a sensor on rear of engine, oil pump belt, and something else back there.
It was something silly on book time, roughly 52 hours, ($8300+ labor)
The good thing is the 3.0L Long blocks are fairly cheap. They put a couple in every week.
The oil consumption with them is silly. Majority of them they are swapping are in there with low oil pressure or thrust bearings are gone.
I stay far away from diesels just for the simple fact of how much their parts cost and the labor hours to fix anything with them.
My beater truck loves drinking gas but its been reliable for the past 500k miles. haha
52 HOURS??? hell, my truck doesn't have an oil pump belt but I bet I could do motor mounts 10 times in that amount of time. GeezI went to the stealership the other day and my buddy had a cab off a '22 Silverado with 3.0L.

Quite a lot of Babymax repairs are cab-off. It’s not a well-liked engine among the techs I know/have spoken with.I went to the stealership the other day and my buddy had a cab off a '22 Silverado with 3.0L.

Should be under warranty still 5 year /100k ? Or is he over 100k52 HOURS??? hell, my truck doesn't have an oil pump belt but I bet I could do motor mounts 10 times in that amount of time. Geez
It was over 100k milesShould be under warranty still 5 year /100k ? Or is he over 100k
haha just wait till you get some miles on it.Man I’ve had no problems with my 2023 3.0. Hope I don’t but it’s been smooth for me so far. I only have 17700 miles on it though.
Ever seen the motor mounts on the 3.0?52 HOURS??? hell, my truck doesn't have an oil pump belt but I bet I could do motor mounts 10 times in that amount of time. Geez
yea my buddys at the stealership will pull the cab for just about anything to make repairs easier to get to.Quite a lot of Babymax repairs are cab-off. It’s not a well-liked engine among the techs I know/have spoken with.
Supposedly it's 2 hours labor to take off and another 2 hours to put on, but that assumes you have the means to do it...and most of us don’t.
No, but no vehicle should be designed so poorly that it's supposed to take 52 hours to do a job like that.Ever seen the motor mounts on the 3.0?
Either way 52 hours is a long time. That poor guyShould be under warranty still 5 year /100k ? Or is he over 100k
52 hours was for the several items. not just motor mounts onlyNo, but no vehicle should be designed so poorly that it's supposed to take 52 hours to do a job like that.

Wish I knew how to do all that stuff. I’m only good for oil and fuel filter changes.52 hours was for the several items. not just motor mounts only
Book time for both motor mounts on a 2010 silverado 5.3 calls for 11.3 hours.
I changed both motor mounts, oil/filter change, plugs/wires, replaced intake tube, and tuned truck in 3.5 hours last Friday night. So their book times are way off but the Techs like it sometimes.
Get yer hands dirty, roll up your sleeves and just do it. Youtube vids, a forum like this one and a Haynes manual will get you thru quite a lot. No one was born knowing this stuff, we all had to learn somewhere 👍Wish I knew how to do all that stuff. I’m only good for oil and fuel filter changes.
My local discount tire didn't get the message.jack stands (don't go under a vehicle just supported by jacks)
Thats why i dont drive a new expensive truck haha.Wish I knew how to do all that stuff. I’m only good for oil and fuel filter changes.
If they are just changing tires, then it's not a big deal. If a jack fails, it's just a hassle to get the truck back up, and it's possibly damaged. It's more important when people are crawling under the truck to fix things.
