Installing AirBags, should I remove block?

My truck has a RC 2" level on it. Until recently, I also had a zone add-a-leaf on the rear. The add-a-leaf was causing the suspension to pop or clunk while going over bumps, so I recently removed them. I hate the way my truck squats now when I hook up my camper. So I splurged and bought Airlift 5000 airbags from my truck, they should be arriving this Tuesday from Fedex.

From the reviews I have read, they require I maintain 5 psi in them while unloaded, which raises the rear about an inch, which I am fine with. However, I got to thinking... Is there any issue with removing the Stock 1.25" rear block, and using the airbags to make up the difference? This would give me the option to ride 100% level front to back, and if I want, I could let out all the air to get the bed a little lower to load/unload.

What are your thoughts?

I would leave it in. I have a 2-1/2 level kit on mine with the 5000lbs air ride bags and i have to run around 15 to 20 psi in my bags to keep my truck level. With 5 psi my rear end looks like its sagging by automated inch.

Jgduran, with the 2.5 lift, does you rear sit lower than the front without the bags? My rear end is about 3/4" higher than the front already.

I installed the air lift 5000 Ultimate air bags about 1 month ago. I love them although it does make the truck sit a little higher. Now I guess I need to put a leveling kit on the front. The 5000's need a minimum of 5lbs air, 5000 ultimate's can run empty according to the site I bought them from. I spent the little extra just in case of an airline break while on the road.

I finally had a chance to test them out with my travel trailer which weighs about 6100 dry. At about 45 psi it smoothed out the jounce that I would get going over bumps. Eliminating the rear end bounce was exactly what I was looking for, plus no more rear end sag.

U tube has a good how to video for installing the 5000 on a 2014 Silverado.

I will be keeping the block in. Without it, it looks like the bags could bottom out if I had a heavy load and some how lost all pressure. I have ordered the Airlift WirlessAir compressor system. It will allow my to adjust both sides independently, which means I can compensate for the 1/2"-3/4" "Chevy lean" I get with a full tank of gas.

With the minimum 5 psi, It gives the truck a 1/2" lift.
