He said he burned 2/3 of oil in 1k miles. So is it even worth it to install, or is the can doing more work than what I'm paying attention to or understanding?
Because from what I've heard in some vids, stuff like Lucas injector cleaner and others, won't work because it's direct port injection. So it can't help clean up the gunk from the pcv valve dumping oil into the manifold.

I'm looking at this one, that is more basic,

And this one 14-18 GM Chevrolet GMC Truck 5.3L Pro Series Single Valve Oil Catch Can Separator Plug N Play ™
With a check valve and a drain line. But I don't understand what they are for. To drain it, you just unscrew it and dump it out.

The first one you unscrew and dump out to drain. The second one has a ball valve on the bottom so you can drain it into a bottle.

I ran an RX can on my 17 and it had a drain valve. I prefer that style much better than my father's elite engineering can which un screws. Either way works, I just found the drain valve was much nicer

I have had four (4) 6.2L engine Sierra's and none used the amount of oil his does in 3x the miles. My current 2021 has not used any measurable amount in 22,000 + miles.

Just because its a full synthetic doesn't mean its the best oil money can buy. Full (or fully) synthetic oil is a marketing term that in no way defines the quantity of synthetic content. The main problem with oils is that there is no actual regulation for what comprises an oil, or what is required of an oil, for it to be classed “Full-Synthetic”. Buyer beware.
